About this property

Criccieth 4 miles. A beautifully appointed detached farmhouse in a rural location, with wonderful countryside views. This welcoming holiday cottage lies close to the seaside town of Criccieth, a few miles from the beautiful coastline of the Llyn Peninsula. Perfectly located, it provides an ideal base for couples, friends and families wishing to spend quality time together whilst being centrally situated for all that Snowdonia and the North Wales Coast has to offer. Prys Mawr offers a warm Welsh welcome from the minute you walk through the door. Sympathetically and imaginatively renovated to a very high standard, the cottage radiates charm and character, with oak wood flooring and locally hand-crafted oak doors. The character blends well with the stylish, modern finish with high ceilings, spotlighting and well-equipped kitchen with a wonderful central island and Neff appliances, and ground floor walk-in wet room. The welcoming sitting room with comfy leather sofas is a lovely place to sit and relax long into the evening. Upstairs, there are three good-sized bedrooms, each benefiting from en-suite WCs with the double also with a shower. The lawned garden to the front is enclosed by shallow stone walling and the patio with garden furniture provides a fantastic location to sit and soak up the sunshine whilst enjoying the uninterrupted views of surrounding countryside. Enjoy a refreshing drink or dine alfresco and discuss the day’s adventures. There are some wonderful countryside walks from the doorstep; visit St Cybi’s Well or enjoy a walk along the coastal path. Nearby is Lon Goed, an avenue of trees which leads to the coastal path. Prys Mawr is also set on the Pwllheli-Portmadog cycle path with wonderful routes to follow. There is also easy access to wonderful beaches at nearby Criccieth, Morfa Bychan and the whole of the Llyn Peninsula. Spend a day discovering the 13th century castle at Criccieth before taking afternoon tea at one of the many charming tea rooms. Porthmadog has an impressive marina and is the terminus for the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways. This charming cottage is the perfect base for discovering this fabulous part of Wales.

Often described as the ‘Pearl of Wales on the shores of Snowdonia’, this delightful seaside town is situated just 5 miles from Porthmadog. The town’s 13th century castle perches majestically on a rocky outcrop, dominating the skyline and offering superb views of Tremadog Bay and the Snowdonia mountains.

The house is in a lovely secluded spot and very quiet. The house has everything you need and was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this property for a relaxing family break.

A generous welcome pack was waiting for us and was greatly appreciated after our long journey. We had a lovely time, the weather was mainly warm and quite sunny for October so we went out somewhere different every day. The only slight niggle was a smell of oil from the central heating which was quite noticeable at times but we got used to over the week.

With very little public charging in North Wales this is likely to mean we cannot visit again. We are very disappointed, this is such a shame, the house itself is perfect for our needs and had hoped to become regular visitors. The car was charging at 2KW per hour, exactly as it does outside our own home (this is equivalent to a normal domestic electric heater) but we were told it was a fire risk. Perhaps the owners would consider installing an exterior plug socket to alleviate this? as the number of electric cars is increasing rapidly across the country.
