About this property

Bala 3 miles. This well-maintained grade II listed detached house is situated looking down on Bala Lake, in the small hamlet of Llangower. The North Wales town of Bala in the Snowdonia National Park is just three miles down the road. Downstairs there is a separate lounge and dining room both with lakeside views. The lounge is cosily decorated with wooden floors, a wood-beamed ceiling and a stone fireplace with woodburning stove. Another inglenook fireplace with woodburning stove is located in the dining room across the small hall, which has seating for up to five people. The fully equipped kitchen contains a two-person breakfast nook. A rear entrance from the property can be found in the storage and drying room at the back, with a small cloakroom. There are three bedrooms upstairs, all looking out across the lake to the mountain ranges. A spacious master bedroom, a second bedroom with a four-foot double bed, and a single room sleep a total of five people. The family bathroom has a full-sized bath and a free standing shower. A semi-rural setting, the cottage is surrounded by rolling hills and fields. This is a serene and tranquil location, and the property's original features such as the cast iron leaded windows add to the cottage’s charm. Hidden away down a private lane, the secluded cottage has a fully enclosed garden, mostly lawn, which surrounds the front and side of the cottage. A slate-paved patio and picnic area make the most of the lakefront views from the front of the cottage, with the water so close you feel you could almost dip your toes directly into it. This cottage is ideal for relaxing at the end of a day spent on the lake, hill walking or mountain biking. There is plenty of space for storing and looking after equipment such as bikes, kayaks, and windsurfers. The cottage is also perfectly located to explore nearby castles and Mount Snowdon, making it a great base for a holiday at any time of the year.

The bustling market town of Bala lies within the beautiful Snowdonia National Park and is located at the head of Llyd Tegid, Bala's famous lake, which is also known as the largest natural lake in Wales. A great water sports destination popular activities include: fishing, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, and whitewater rafting. Surrounded by the wonderful Berwyn Mountains on one side and the beautiful Snowdonia Mountain Range on the other, this is a mecca for climbing, walking, mountain biking and many other outdoor activities.

We didn't feel safe and we didn't feel our property was secure. The kitchen wasn't clean I had to wash the crockery & cutlery we wanted to use a serving spoon had marmalade on it! The patio was cordoned off & had grass & corn 2 feet high growing in it. The back of the property which had an outhouse with a door that had a gap between door frame & door. There was a downstairs toilet in the outhouse which wasn't very good & the sink was all brown which wasn't very pleasant. The area in front of the back door was all cracked & broken. The back of the property was not shown on any photos on the Sykes website because if it had we would never have booked it. All in all the property appeared to be rundown & neglected. If my husband could have driven home again we would not have stayed one night. We are pensioners who save all year for our holiday & we feel really upset and disappointed.

A really good base for walking, cycling and exploring the area. Beautiful to wake up to the reflections on the lake below and to enjoy the changing light on the water throughout the day and evening. Shooting stars were amazing.
