A delightfully cosy detached cottage set at the head of the beautiful Mawddach Estuary, overlooked by the stunning Cader Idris mountain range and just 1.5 miles from the village of Llanelltyd, 4 miles from Dolgellau and 6 miles from Barmouth. This pretty cottage provides a perfect base for a couple who want to explore this lovely part of North Wales and the Snowdonia National Park. The cottage offers a warm welcome and is tastefully decorated and the lovely artwork on display throughout the cottage gives it a really nice homely feel. The cottage features open plan living accommodation downstairs with a comfy sofa for snuggling up on at the end of a busy day walking. The compact kitchen is well equipped so all your catering needs should be looked after to let you enjoy a cosy, romantic candlelit supper in the dining area. A modern shower room is located off the sitting room and upstairs a spacious, light and dreamy bedroom with TV and two comfy tub chairs also makes for a space to sit and relax, enjoy a good book or just reflect and enjoy the lovely views over the Mawddach Estuary, encompassing wonderful mountainous and hillside scenery. To the side of your lovely holiday cottage, accessed via 11 wooden steps, is a raised patio area with furniture, just the ticket for a relaxing glass of something after a day of exploration and adventure, where you can sit and enjoy the views. There are some delightful walks from the cottage up to a lovely hillside lake providing marvelous hill and mountain views. The George III pub and renowned restaurant, full of character and history where you’re sure of a warm welcome, is located just across the estuary and makes for a nice evening stroll over the wooden Penmaenpool toll bridge which is Grade II listed and dates back to 1879, from here you can also join the Mawddach trail. Close by there is an RSPB nature reserve, great for bird watching enthusiasts. The serene ruin of CADW’s Cymer Abbey stands in a lovely setting beside the River Mawddach and is just a short drive away, well worth a visit. Dolgellau is close by and has an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, plus only five miles away is the renowned mountain bike centre at Coed-y-Brenin. Ideally situated for enjoying mountain biking, watersports and the huge sandy beaches of Barmouth and Fairbourne the location of this delightful cottage is very central for everything. At the end of a busy day, return to this welcoming little place and relax.

Set at the starting point of the sweeping Mawddach Estuary and caught between Snowdonia’s sea and mountain scenery, the small, peaceful village of Llanelltyd rests amongst climbing green hills, offering a perfectly peaceful holiday location for touring this vibrant area. The crumbling Cymer Abbey, a 12th century romantic ruin, and St Illtyd’s Church, thought to be one of the oldest in Wales, stand testament to the village’s past.

The road outside does get busy, but this didn't bother me as I was out most of the day anyway.

Being a fairly busy road and the cottage being very close to the road you get a high level of noise
