Lodge is in a good area. You are basically getting an empty shell. There were no towels, condiments, hand soap, toilet rolls(until I asked), not even a dustpan and brush so I had to scrounge around on the floor to keep it clean for my 1 year old crawling around. There is no mobile network as it’s in quite a remote location and no WiFi. Admittedly I didn’t bring this to the attention of the host but there’s very little they could have done about the majority of these problems and also according to other reviews the host wasn’t very welcoming of criticism. Considering I paid a large amount due to it being peak time it could have been so much better. So impersonal

We arrived at the park and were greeted by a lovely friendly lady who gave us our keys and said she would be over later to explain how the hot tub worked. On arrival the cabin seemed to have everything we needed. We started unpacking and soon the lady arrived to explain the hot tub. After having a bite to eat we opened the bubbly and made our way to the hot tub, everything went down hill from then. Although the hot tub was nice, we couldn’t stay in long as it was too hot- temperature was adjusted for the following evening but before we got out we poured the bubbly into the plastic cups. Before drinking (luckily) we noticed they were dirty. This then made us take a closer look around the cabin and found the cleanliness to be very below what we would expect, especially as we were told check in was after 5pm due to more cleaning being done because of COVID. The bathroom was clean in the shower/toilet bowl but the outside of the shower etc had not been touched. The light switch pull was black where dirty hands had previously grabbed it and if there was a pull handle on there it had long been broken as was missing. We found lots of dirty items in the kitchen, including the curtains and windows. The carpets were hard underfoot and would not be out of place in an office. There were cobwebs in doors and windows all over the cabin and the bed was one of the worst I have ever tried to sleep on. Out the front of the cabin is a sheltered area with a table where you can eat. Unfortunately the dirty window right next to the bench seat out is off our food so we eat inside. The cabin inside and out was tired. The grass area by the hot tub need weeding. But the lake and area around it was lovely. We only stayed 2 of our 7 nights due to all of the above. During times like these when we are expected to ensure we adhere to high levels of cleanliness, we were very disappointed. We didn’t speak to staff while we were there as we had been so put off by it all we just wanted to go home. Even if they got the cleaning right, we couldn’t have spend another night in that bed. If you book, bring cleaning items and an air bed.

The lodge was dirty, very dated and dark, making it difficult to like at all.Disturbing in times of covid - no sign of proper cleaning or airing being done.Had to wash everything prior to use (esp. crockery, cutlery), but still grease everywhere on oven.It really needs a proper clean, some cosmetic work (e.g. painting the dark wood), proper carpets and better furniture - it wouldn't cost very much for them to do it.No wifi. Mostly no mobile reception.Hot-tub ok. Surroundings ok, which makes it a real shame no-one cared about the basics.Of course, very expensive currently, but even if it was cheap it would be unpleasant and not worth a positive review.
