About this property

This Grade II listed Georgian townhouse (c.1823), stands in an attractive cobbled street 400 yards from Caernarfon town square. Isfryn offers bright and spacious accommodation in a traditional style. Boasting a majestic dining table seating 20, large sauna and whirlpool bath, Isfryn is ideally suited to groups of family or friends! A particular feature of the patio is the raised viewing platform, which provides access to its own section of the 13th century town walls and commands stunning sea views over the Straits, towards Anglesey.

Caernarfon is one of the most historical towns in the United Kingdom: there are few others who can claim to have been continually inhabited since Stone Age times. Evidence of its history is most evident in the famous Caernarfon Castle, which began its construction in 1283 as a fortress, a seat of government and a home for royalty. The town itself is the site of many events and festivals throughout the year, such as the UK Strong Man Competition, the Caernarfon Festival and meetings of the North Wales Automobile Club. The Welsh Highland Railway offers trips through the region, where you can begin to fully appreciate the splendour of the region and you can take a boat out on a fishing trip from the local harbour. The town itself is well-served by restaurants and shops and its close proximity to the local beaches offer the chance to get the best of coast and country.

In our party were 8 adults, 5 children and 2 dogs. The house was a great size. It is very tired in places, could do with decorating throughout although it did look like the kitchen new doors fitted. The dining room was ideal for family mealtimes. The house in general wasn’t that clean, highchair that we didn’t use had crumbs in and the grill on kitchen counter was very dirty. Beds were clean and comfortable and kitchen quite well equipped. Down side is the parking, we had 4 cars between us but in this fabulous location we felt a small price to pay. The viewing platform is fantastic. This is a very unique property inside the castle wall in Caernarfon. Overall we felt the pros outweighed the cons but broadly agree with most of the earlier feedback.

Two of the bathrooms had shower holders broken. Another bathroom had spider webs with a big spider in. Dusty TV stand and some head boards as well The property had a stale smell downstairs even after opening all the windows specially the dining room. Cold tap not working in 2 bedrooms. Sauna room had no drainage on the floor. Another bathroom had a non working exhaust. No keys available for any bedrooms. No TV remotes provided Lounge sofas were really worn out and lumpy. Nevertheless we really enjoyed the stay at a lovely location with beautiful views and excessive storage for n each bedroom with a well equipped kitchen. A lovely and clean property. Specially appreciated a welcoming cake provided. Thank you for providing us with a lovely holiday break it was a great experience!
