About this property

This lovely, double-fronted, terraced cottage is located in the centre of the popular village of Beddgelert, situated in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. This Grade II listed former miner’s cottage dates from the 1850s and is ideal for couples, families or friends looking to discover this beautiful part of Snowdonia. Boasting lots of original features throughout, such as quarry tiled flooring, exposed ceiling beams, sash windows and latch and brace doors, the cottage is sure to delight and transport you to a bygone era. There are also modern day comforts and a homely interior, meaning that this cottage offers a welcoming and comfortable home-from-home feel. Three first floor bedrooms offer cosy and comfortable accommodation, with a downstairs bathroom and well-equipped kitchen with breakfast table and chairs for those leisurely breakfasts or suppers together. Also downstairs there are two sitting rooms, both with lovely fireplaces housing cosy woodburning stoves, and there is also comfy seating, perfect for unwinding in after a long walk in the mountains. At the rear of this delightful cottage, accessed by 27 steps, is a wonderful decked area which overlooks the cottage garden, nicely planted with mature plants and shrubs, and the rooftops towards the mountains and hillside beyond. Basking in the afternoon sun and with a backdrop of woodland, this is a real hidden gem and perfect for that refreshing drink after a day exploring and discovering the fabulous walks on your doorstep. Be sure to visit the famous grave of Gelert, the faithful hound of the medieval Welsh Prince Llewelyn the Great, which is the centrepiece of the village and a lovely walk along the river banks of the Glaslyn River. Beddgelert is a delightful village with a good selection of shops, pubs and cafes alongside the river. Walk to the peak of Mount Snowdon along the Watkin Path which runs from Beddgelert, or discover a whole range of footpaths that surround the village and which suit all abilities. Mountain biking is well-catered for locally with a number of centres in the area, including Antur Stiniog at Blaenau Ffestiniog, where some of the best downhill tracks and trails are on offer. Blaenau Ffestiniog is also home to Llechwedd Slate Caverns, Zip World Titan, the longest four person zip line in Europe, Bounce Below and Zip World Caverns, an underground network of trampolines and zip wires. If you fancy a more leisurely day out, a ride on the Welsh Highland Steam Railway runs through the village taking you to Porthmadog on the coast. Whether it is walking or climbing in the mountains, or relaxing by the coast and visiting historic castles, the cottage provides a comfortable base all year round that will live long in the memory.

Lying at the foot of Mount Snowdon, Beddgelert is situated in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. A busy village, it is centred around the Afon Glaslyn river, just a short walk from the Aberglaslyn Pass. The Welsh Highland Steam Railway passes through Beddgelert on its way from Porthmadog to Caernarfon.
