About this property

A charming basement flat in a Victorian building, The Nest is only a few minutes’ walk to the centre of Llangollen yet still enjoys its own tranquil location overlooking the River Dee. This modest but well-equipped apartment has steps down to the river-front walk and enjoys an excellent degree of privacy, together with exclusive use of a raised patio with stunning views over the river. Inside the interior layout comprises of a bright open-plan living space featuring a sitting area, a dining area and a kitchen which provides everything you need during your self-catered stay in North Wales, including an electric oven and hob, microwave and a fridge/freezer. Retire after each adventure-filled day to the lovely double bedroom, continuing the simple and bright décor style, while the shower room completes the accommodation. Spend time outside on the delightful patio, a nice spot to soak up the sun and enjoy a refreshing evening drink before heading out for an evening meal in Llangollen. Within walking distance are the Horseshoe Falls, the house and peaceful gardens of Plas Newydd and, for the more energetic, the ruined castle of Dinas Bran. The town’s shops provide all you need for food and essentials, as well as being home to a good selection of restaurants, pubs and tea rooms, some of which allow dogs. The National Trust’s Chirk Castle and Erddig are within easy driving distance, whilst an all-day-long car trail takes you to visit six of the ‘Seven Wonders of Wales’. The famous Offa’s Dyke Path passes nearby, with walking opportunities along the crest of the Clwyd Hills, plus the well-known Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is around five miles away. Of course the Snowdonia National Park is within reach from Llangollen and is a haven for walkers, cyclists and thrill-seekers alike, with great attractions such as Zip-World. Discover a host of adventure in Wales within reach of The Nest.

The town of Llangollen is situated on the River Dee and offers shops, pubs, restaurants, steam train rides, walks, as well as hosting the internationally famous Musical Eisteddfod. The National Trust properties of Chirk Castle and Erddig are within easy driving distance and the Offa's Dyke Path passes nearby. Snowdonia is less than an hour’s drive.

Firstly you have to park behind the property which is a dead end street governed by cars from a local garage to unload and load your stuff as entrance to Nest is on the River. If you get a space great but owner provides a permit for local car park. Lovely personal welcome, lots of info and Welsh Cakes. I met the owner who lives above the Nest, very caring, obliging, friendly. Big emphasis on macerator toilet, I have one and if goes wrong you pay which completely understand as this pumps up not like mine level. The Nest is well decorated and equipped furniture and utensils, it feels like home. My only recommendation maybe a non slip mat in the shower room and knock the wall down outside front door and put railings or glass so you can sit on sofa and watch the River flow. Best nights sleep I have had in a while. Great location. I would certainly visit the Nest once a year what a great getaway , so much on the doorstep and Gods Country as hiker.
