About this property

A beautiful detached barn conversion set within its own courtyard and garden, situated on the owners' 72-acre sheep and cattle farm next to their own home, in a rural position just on the edge of the pretty village of Henllan, 2.5 miles from Denbigh. This fantastic cottage is a superb romantic retreat for a couple offering a real ‘get away from it all’ location with stunning scenery and surrounding countryside. The level of attention to detail, with wonderful and unusual items made and locally sourced, make this cottage very special and will create and make wonderful memories for you to take away and cherish. Appointed to a high standard, stylish, modern and a little contemporary in places, this delightful cottage is spacious, light and airy and has wonderful stripped floorboards throughout. The impressive sitting room has a large corner sofa where you can relax and snuggle up for a cosy night in, watching your favourite film after a busy day out and about exploring. The lovely woodburning stove will ensure you are warm and toasty, especially if the weather takes a turn for the worse. Step out of the French door on to a sunny patio where you can sit with a morning cup of coffee as you plan the day’s adventures or on warm summer evenings is the perfect place to have a glass of something cold, exchanging stories and chatting long into the night, even enjoying a spot of stargazing. An intimate dining area provides the setting for a romantic candlelit meal for two, prepared in the well-equipped kitchen which caters for all your needs. A downstairs, modern shower room offers a walk-in double shower and look out for the rather nice, but different toilet roll holder! Upstairs, this delightful cottage boasts a spacious and dreamy first floor galleried bedroom with a lovely king-size bed, so you’re sure of a good night’s sleep, patio door opening to a Juliet balcony and an en-suite cloakroom. Outside your lovely holiday cottage is an enclosed block paved courtyard with sun loungers, extending to a walled lawned area with table and chairs, providing a lovely peaceful place to relax and unwind. The village of Henllan is just a short stroll from the cottage and in the evening you can amble down to visit the Llindir Inn, a beautiful Grade II listed thatched pub, dating back to 1229. There are some wonderful walks from the cottage, the nearby Clwydian Way leads to Denbigh, just two and a half miles away, so you’ll have plenty of time to explore and enjoy the beautiful scenic countryside. An ideal base for a quiet holiday or break away at any time of the year.

The small North Wales village of Henllan is situated between Denbigh and the Diamond Jubilee City of St Asaph. The village offers a shop/Post Office and a pub, which serves good food. St Asaph was awarded city status in 2012 and is best known for its magnificent white cathedral. In September, the city comes alive with the arrival of the North Wales International Music festival, which takes place across numerous locations, culminating for the last few years in a television finale, broadcast from the cathedral.

It had everything we needed and the welcome gifts were much appreciated. It really felt as though we had got away from it all, with views of fields from the windows but less than 10 minutes' walk from the pub which was very friendly. We will definitely be back.

Area is perfect for walking or if you want a drive out to different places. Owners offered so much information in the handbook which was emailed to us before our stay. Definitely would recommend this cottage and would stay here again.
