About this property

A delightful, brick-built cottage, adjoining the owner's 15th century farmhouse, on a 30-acre award-winning farm, boasting a welcoming woodburner, lavish bathroom and superb handcrafted, Welsh Oak bed. Cae Caled Cottage was voted one of the UK's top 20 romantic cottages in 2009 by Alistair Sawday for The Times Online. Note: This property is across the fish pond from Ref. 2555, Ref 14074 and Ref 987979 and together they can accommodate 24 people.

Set beneath the imposing Clwydian Hill Range is the small village of Bodfari, a town steeped in history. Evidence of settlement on the site in the form of a Celtic camp can be found dating back to 500BC. Later roles include that of a Roman encampment whilst the village church, St. Stephen's, pre-dates the Norman Conquest. Nowadays, the village is home to a local shop and lies within easy reach of a number of traditional country pubs and restaurants. Nearby, the Offa's Dyke pathway provides excellent walking, whilst for those interested in discovering more of the area's history the ancient market town of Denbigh has a 13th Century castle. The charming little town also provides a host of modern amenities such as shops, pubs and restaurants and is only five miles from Bodfari.

We were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed several walks out the door and in the surrounding areas. Overall the place was lovely and comfortable. Lovely king bed made by the son. And I loved the bath tub! It's a very peaceful location with stunning views. However, there were a few quirky issues, poor lighting to read by at night, and awkward light switch locations. I imagine in the summer it is very busy with so many accommodated there. we were right by the gate into the swimming pool and the users of the pool were back and forth which was a bit unsettling. However the big picture is very good!
