About this property

Hide yourself two fields away from the nearest lane, enjoying sweeping views over the beautiful Bodnant Estate. Bryn Rhydd is a charming traditional cottage giving you easy access to miles of secluded walks along private, wooded paths.

Bryn Rhydd is one of 10 luxury self-catering cottages on The Bodnant Estate, a strikingly beautiful agricultural estate in North Wales. Set in hilly and wooded countryside in the lower reaches of the Conwy Valley, it commands spectacular views across to Snowdonia. Stone cottages and farm buildings have been restored using traditional materials and techniques, and the Estate supports farming and encourages other rural activities. Various houses and cottages in scenic positions on the Estate are available for rent as holiday lets. Come and stay in one of them - and enjoy walking on the many miles of private woodland paths winding through the Estate.

A traditional stone cottage that has been carefully renovated by the owners to retain its country charm while adding modern touches of comfort throughout. The living area contains two comfortable sofas snuggled around a wood burning stove, but you’ll find the large and light kitchen is a good place to relax too, with its oak floor and large range oven and hob.

The cottage makes the most of its elevated position in the Bodnant Estate, with a southerly facing terrace that overlooks the fields and the forests below. The panoramic views over to the Carneddau mountains are simply breathtaking, and you’ll probably spend a happy hour or two sitting out on the terrace and take in the view.

For larger groups Bryn Mawr, sleeping seven guests is located next to Bryn Rhydd and can also be booked, subject to availability. There are a number of other properties available to book at the Bodnant Estate; Ty Newydd, sleeping eight guests, Ty Cerrig, sleeping seven guests, Lletty, sleeping six guests, Lletty and Annexe, sleeping eight guests, Garth Iwrch, sleeping four guests, Tyddyn Derwen, sleeping five guests, Minafon sleeping two guests, Ty Ucha’r Ffordd, sleeping two guests and Bryn Derw, sleeping 4 guests.

Cosy cottage in a peaceful, secluded location. Walks from the door, we didn't have to drive anywhere over the short stay as took all our food with us. The Rural Retreats welcome hampers are excellent and we enjoyed everything that was left for us. We now use Rural Retreats as our first search point for holidays in UK.

Very well equipped , clean, warm and comfortable cottage. Excellent “hamper” and lovely Christmas tree. Only criticism is wrong info on your arrival instructions: housekeeper left that position 6 months ago, and wood store was padlocked halfway through our stay and we were told that only an initial supply of wood was provided, contrary to your info. Otherwise a great stay.

Our second visit, cottage is warm and cosy in a fabulous but quite isolated location which really suits us. Plenty of walks from the door, we didn’t have to leave the estate on our short break. Some problems with a new heating boiler so it kept going off and we had to keep re-setting and wait for a plumber but response was quick and everyone was very helpful. Great boot room which is very handy for drying down a wet and muddy dog. Fantastic welcome box and we even had biscuits, poo bags and a towel and bowl for our dog which was a nice touch. The bed was very comfortable, the only thing I’d really like to change is the carpets which have seen better days and the shower in main bathroom could do with an update, although this time we didn’t use it and used the bath in the en-suite instead.
