Picturesque New Quay with harbour, beach and shops is just 5 miles north and continue a little further for the elegant Georgian town of Aberaeron.

Maintenance was an issue, when raised with the owner, her response was that the following week was earmarked for work on the property. No help to me, as radiators in the back bedroom, and the long hallway we're stone cold all week. The bath in the en-suite bathroom was non functional. The first day, no hot water, eventually found the emersion heater, but couldn't reach it! Used a broom handle to push through the cupboard to the switch. Eventually got to bathe, jets did not work, not the end of the world, however, when I got out, half the bath water was on the bathroom floor via a leak in the base. Not from the plug because it was stuck - for three days. I moped and dried out the bathroom. Didn't use it again. Flagged up to owner who assured me the bath was fine. Just the jets don't work and that she hadn't avertised that it did. (???) Again she told me maintainance was planned for the following week. So that's alright. (Her words not mine!) The holiday didn't start well as on arrival the key safe on the right of the door was above door height - I'm 5'4 !! After searching for something to stand on and failing, I rang Angharad who told me she was an hour away, but she would ring the maid. By this time it was dark, a text message told me the cleaning lady had been drinking therefore couldn't come out, and to look in the garage for a ladder. Now I'm 70 and my Mum is 90!!! We did open the garage. We did find a ladder, we pulled it out and got to the key box with my phone light to guide us. Not a friendly welcome at all. The visitors book states that maintenance was an issue the week before, also that they had rewilded 200 woodlice, I rewilded all there decendance! Probably so many from the leaking bath. The one the owner insisted was fine! Oh, and the dishwasher leaks. Not the restful break we anticipated, not value for money, and will not be returning.
