    About this property

With lovely views, and kites and buzzards to watch from the garden, this cosy cottage is ideal for lovers of the countryside.
The delightful detached cottage of Bryntrisant is believed to date back to the 1840’s. Census records indicate that the cottage was originally occupied by a Cornish tin miner and his family, who almost certainly moved to the area to use his skills in the local lead mines. Later that decade the cottage became a little shop, and the resident family were also registered as weavers. Today the cottage has been lovingly and carefully restored to enhance the traditional features of exposed stone walls, and an amazing fireplace with a wood burner set into it. The spacious and very comfortable open plan living space has delightful views across the fields towards the hills of the Cambrians, and upstairs there are two delightful bedrooms with equally lovely views and a contemporary shower room with a rain head shower.
Accessed through a handy boot room with separate toilet off, is the lovely enclosed garden with benches and patio furniture. Here you can while away a few hours with a drink in one hand and a pair of binoculars in the other, watching the red kites and buzzards as they soar in the sky. The Bwlch Nant Yr Arian Forest Visitor Centre is a few miles away and has a daily feeding programme for the red kites, and is well worth a visit for the spectacle of more than a 100 birds coming in to feed. The cottage is just a short drive from the seaside town of Aberystwyth, and perfectly situated for exploring the Ceredigion coastline or the Cambrian Mountains. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the abundance of walking, cycling, mountain biking, birdwatching and fishing opportunities in the area. Close by to Bryntrisant is the Hafod Estate; a vast forested landscape with a number of well signposted walks graded by length and ease, with plenty of parking available.
The little village of Devil’s Bridge is 2 miles away, and has a reputation across the world for its stunning waterfalls. You can take the steep staircase to the base of the falls (known as Jacob’s Ladder); the effort will reward you with the most amazing sight. You can also buy some useful day to day essentials from the café, or if you travel further on to Pontwerwyd there are local supplies and a cash point at the petrol station. The Vale of Rheidol steam train also departs from Devil’s Bridge and meanders through the gorgeous countryside to Aberystwyth. Here you can take another form of transport; the electric cliff railway at the end of the promenade, which will take you up to the summit at Constitution Hill and reward you with another stunning view out across the whole of Cardigan Bay. Make sure you take the time to enjoy a coffee or an ice cream here! When you have finished exploring each day return to Bryntrisant with its cosy comfort, light the fire, open a bottle of wine and relax! Beach 10½ miles. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

"This cottage is outstanding, so well set up and looked after. Warm and cosy with every thing we needed and more. The countryside around the cottage and the general area is breathtaking. It is just what we love."

"A nice cottage in lovely surroundings and a quiet location.Appreciated the milk, cakes and biscuits from the owners very thoughtful. Felt like a home more than holiday home."

"Absolutely beautiful cottage, a real treat to stay in. Everything has been thought of here and you get the feeling that the owners are proud of what they have achieved and really care about the enjoyment of your stay. The lack of light pollution makes for some stunning starry skies on clear nights, the little extras all around the cottage make you feel even more at home and the beds are super comfortable. The fact that the cottage is a very short distance from the gorgeous Devil's Bridge with it's tranquil and quaint steam railway station is a extra bonus. We'll be returning."

"We had a wonderful stay in Trisant. The cottage was very cosy and homely, but with plenty of space and all the facilities we needed. The only reason I haven't rated full marks for location and local amenities is because it is fairly in the middle of nowhere (in terms of being able to walk to things) but that's what we wanted! So it really does depend on the type of stay you are looking for. Having said that, it is about 20 minutes drive to Aberystwyth and 5 minutes from Devils Bridge. Also the surrounding fields are beautiful and in nice weather would make the perfect setting for a country walk. A few touches by the owners really made us feel welcome - a cake on arrival and teabags and milk waiting for us. We did walk into a couple of the beams but they are so beautiful that the headache was worth it!Overall would highly recommend this cottage for anyone looking for a quiet, cosy break!"

"Brilliant location, if like us, you like to be on your own. The most peaceful place I've been. Fantastic eco friendly cottage. Clean and very comfortable bed. Slept like a log. Make sure you have food supplies, as Aberystwyth is the nearest place for food."

"This is a truly beautiful cottage set in a quiet rural part of wales. The cottage was very clean and nicely presented with all the facilities you would need - it was like home!"
    Elizabeth ‐ 29 Jul 2018
"A charming very clean cottage. Bryntrisant was very well equipped. The linen and towels were spotless. The cottage is situated in a peaceful place with only the birds and sheep in the background. The cottage, although in a peaceful area, is not far from anywhere with Aberystwyth in one direction, Devils Bridge in another and Tregaronin the other. If walking around by the cottage you rarely see a vehicle. Sitting in the garden was wonderful so peaceful and private. My only gripe is that there wasn’t a food waste bin available otherwise perfect."

"Great place to stay, quiet and relaxing"
    Annemarie ‐ 24 May 2018
"A beautiful cottage in a lovely setting. We loved opening the curtains and seeing the lambs in the field across the road. There's something very calming about hearing constant bleating. The woodburner was very nice in the evenings and we were lucky enough to be able to enjoy sitting in the garden! The beds and couches were very comfy. The only thing that could be improved was the fridge, that was just too small. There were only two of us so we managed but with a family you would need a bigger fridge."

    Mary ‐ 3 Mar 2018
"A beautiful cottage in an idyllic location not too far from places of interest and full of history. Our stay was like a home from home. Everything we needed was available. On arrival there was a lovely welcome package and note with information on how to use the facilities.High praise for the economy friendly products too. We would definitely return."
