About this property

Enjoy a 'green' holiday on this smallholding, with rare breed sheep, pigs and cows, as well as alpacas, goats and free range hens! UV panels for power, natural spring water, and a wood fired hot tub to relax in under the starry dark skies! Games room for the kids, too.

This lovely stone cottage is an annexe to the owners’ farmhouse on their smallholding in rural Carmarthenshire, giving a feeling of being well away from it all, in the peaceful, rolling countryside, yet within easy reach of the south and west Wales coastlines. Enjoy a ‘farm stay’, with fresh eggs available for your breakfast and a selection of organic meats and vegetables to purchase for dinner. The smallholding is home to rare breeds of sheep, pigs and cattle, alpacas and goats, as well as free range hens. Keeper's Cottage (the former farm manager's cottage) has its own private entrance and enclosed garden, and just beyond the garden gate (making it safe from children and pets), on the farmyard, is an environmentally friendly wood-fired hot tub. A holiday at Rhydnebwen Farm is all about caring for the environment as well as yourself!

Living Room: the ground floor of the cottage is open-plan, with attractive features including quarry tiled floor with underfloor heating, traditional lime-washed stone wall to one side of the room and a wood burning stove on a slate hearth. Furnished with a sofa (a sofabed, if required for alternative sleeping arrangements) and two leather armchairs, TV with Freesat, DVD player, Fire Stick, WiFi, and a tall bookcase with an excellent selection of books, games, music and films. There is a circular pine dining table and two chairs, with upholstered bench seat; two further chairs are available if required. The spacious kitchen has an impressive dresser, painted kitchen units with slate worktops (recycled from old snooker tables!) and Belfast sink, electric cooker, ceramic hob with extractor hood over, integrated dishwasher and tall fridge freezer; in the alcove beyond the staircase is a washing machine and microwave. There is a door at the foot of the staircase, ensuring that dogs can easily be restricted to the ground floor of the cottage.

Upstairs: spacious landing area with large wardrobe for bedroom 1. The stairs are carpeted; the first floor has polished wooden flooring.

Bedroom 1: king size bed with Victorian-style bedstead, feature fireplace, chest of drawers, electric panel heater.

Bedroom 2: full-sized bunk beds, curtained clothes storage alcove, heated towel rail.

Bathroom: with shower over the bath, WC, basin, heated towel rail.

Outside: garden to front and side, enclosed by low fence, with lawn and cottage garden planting, swing bench seat, garden table and chairs. Immediately beyond the rear garden gate is the hot tub on decking. Animals graze in the surrounding fields and vegetables are grown on site; farm tours are available by arrangement with the owners.

Hot Tub: on stone-flagged terrace, built of wood and fired by a wood burning stove, perfect for relaxing in the steaming water under the star-filled dark skies, with a glass of something cool to sip. Available by arrangement, at extra cost for provision and chopping of recycled wood; the owners will fire up the hot tub and show guests how to keep it stoked and how to regulate the temperature. Quicker to heat (about 2-3 hours) than an electric hot tub, but without the massage jets and whirlpool features; this is an environmentally friendly alternative for your ‘green’ holiday, available @ £30 per night (minimum 2 nights) or £150 per full week.

Games Room: an adjacent barn has a table tennis table and table football, a facility shared with the owners.

Pets: one or two dogs welcome, to be kept downstairs in the cottage and on leads at all times on the farm, due to livestock.

Parking: Parking to the front of the cottage, within the garden gates.

Rhydnebwen Farm is in a quiet, rural location, yet only 8.5 miles from St Clears, 12.5 miles to Dylan Thomas's Boathouse at Laugharne and 20 miles to the stunning Llansteffan Castle overlooking the Towy Estuary. Beaches are just under 20 miles away, Pendine Sands to the south and Aberporth to the north. The National Botanic Garden of Wales and Aberglasney Gardens are about 40-45 minutes' drive to the east. Folly Farm Adventure Park and Oakwood Theme Park are a similar distance, and the colourful Tenby is only about an hour away. Lots for all the family to see and do nearby.

Electricity and electric heating included; initial basket of logs provided and further supplies available from the owners at extra cost

Bed linen provided and towels available for indoor use @ £3 per person; please bring your own beach/hot tub towels
