Situated in an elevated position with splendid views over the rolling countryside of Carmarthenshire, this traditional, large farmhouse has been sympathetically restored to retain much of its original charm and character, making it a perfect holiday base for families or groups looking to explore the rugged countryside and spectacular coastline of West Wales. The former barn, dating back to the 18th century, has been lovingly converted, combining modern amenities with a tasteful décor throughout, featuring oak beams, stones walls and lots of welcoming touches, including a traditional wood-burning stove for those cosy nights in! Each room has been carefully put together, and the master suite on the first floor boasts a feature vaulted ceiling, en-suite bathroom and a private balcony with picturesque views across the countryside towards the historic coastal town of Laugharne. Guests can also enjoy the numerous facilities Ty Cerrig Farmhouse has to offer, including an outdoor hot tub, children’s play area and indoor games room equipped with a pool and football table, dart board and selection of board games for everyone to enjoy. Conveniently located on the borders of Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire, the area has so much to offer, including fantastic walks around the scenic Pembrey Country Park with eight miles of golden sands at Cefn Sidan. Pembrey must be the only place in Europe where guests can sunbathe, swim and hunt for shipwrecks on the beaches, then experience the thrill of a toboggan run or race down the park’s 130m dry ski slope. Away from the coast, Carmarthenshire’s countryside is just as promising, with its array of charming market towns including Carmarthen and Llandeilo, as well as its numerous enchanted sites dotted around the county, such as the historic castles of Kidwelly, Carreg Cennen and the 12th-century castle of Dinefwr, nestled amongst a tranquil 800-acre park with wild fallow deer running free. The famous town of Laugharne is just a short drive away and was once home to the famous Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, which features his iconic boat house and historic castle lying peacefully on the edge of the glistening river Taf. Just a 30-minute drive away are the popular coastal resorts of Tenby and Saundersfoot, home to numerous gift shops, restaurants and thrilling leisure attractions, including Oakwood Theme Park, Manor House Wildlife Park and Folly Farm. Beach 7 miles. Shop and pub ½ mile.

    "Another fabulous at Ty Cerrig...Celebrated a 50th birthday had amazing time. The house is fab and the hotub is extra touch. Nothing around you which I loved but not far to st clears or carmarthen. Just beware of the main road when trying to find it especially in the dark!!! Ill definately be back at some point for a third stay x"

    "Really great house - exactly like the photos. Would have been good to see the house layout to decide if it was suitable on the website. One child’s bedroom further away from us as two families sharing and one bedroom accessed through another. This was not a major problem for us but would have been useful information. Pete the owner could not have been more welcoming and helpful - thank you."

    "Lovely cottage. There was loads of room for all of us ( 6 adults and 2 children) and we all loved the place, especially the games room and hot tub. Easy access to local amenities and some stunning beaches (Pendine, Saundersfoot), our grand-daughters visited the Shire Horse Farm and a local children's zoo which they loved. If there was one small negative was its location, the A40 is at the end of a short lane, so quite a bit of road noise can be heard when at the property."

    "The farmhouse itself was lovely, apart from the cooker and utensils were filthy and not in a good condition.The location of the farmhouse was not what was advertised, we did not appreciate being right next to a busy dual carriageway and businesses and other properties beside us. The businesses made noise late on most nights."

    "The actual cottage is great, especially the games room. It was very clean and had all you would need with regards the kitchen and games room. There is an area out of the front with 2 grassy areas but there is no garden at the back. There are railings separating the cottage from the parking area and steps if you have small children. There is also a dual carriage-way 200 metres in the front of the cottage but this is mainly blocked out by trees. There is obviously noise from this when you're outside but no issues inside. Although there is a pub within a mile you would have to drive to it. There is a charcoal bbq which was very good and the hot-tub worked with no issues. Overall the cottage was delightful and would definitely recommend it for a large group (we had 6 adults and 4 children)"

    "What a wonderfully impressive house, beautifully inside and out.Something for everyone, with large bedrooms, a great fully-equipped kitchen, separate large seating areas and games room. The property had plenty of towels and little other extras, such as toiletries which is an added bonus but not mentioned on the website. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, meeting our needs perfectly and I would use again in a heartbeat. The photos online do not do it justice as the rooms are much bigger than they look and the house even more outstanding in the flesh.A couple of small negatives that others should consider is that 2 bedrooms are joined and you have to go through another to use the bathroom making it difficult with 9 adults sharing the house who all wanted their privacy. Before arriving our party argued over the beautiful large bedroom with balcony but then decided against once they realised it was connected to another. We didn’t realise this when looking at the photos or see in the description unfortunately, which left my elderly mother using a child’s single bed downstairs instead of the intended double bed with ajoining bathroom.The busy main road, whilst quiet once windows and doors were shut was a disappointment and left nowhere to walk from the property with our dog or walk in general without having to drive instead. We took 3 cars to the property and found that our more nervous driver found turning right from the property or right into it very scary, especially when there was heavy daytime traffic on the dual carriageway.I would recommend to anyone who knew the small downsides and it’s a perfect holiday home, which we’d all like to own."

    "8 adults, 1 teenager, 1 toddler 1 baby and 2 dogs. We stayed for a wonderful week celebrating a 70th birthday. Something for everyone with games room , hot tub and outdoor play area.Weather wasn't brilliant but the house was warm and comfortable. We felt the only downside was the main A40 at the bottom of the drive. There was nowhere to go without getting in the car, and crossing the dual carriageway was an unnerving experience. However, there are beautiful beaches nearby and we would come again despite the road. The accommodation more than made up for it. We would recommend this holiday cottage.."
