About this property

Mallwyd 0.7 miles. A traditional, stone-built detached cottage, formerly the River Bailiffs Cottage, standing on the banks of the River Dovey, which nestles between wooded hills and mountains on the edge of the village of Mallwyd, in the beautiful Dovey Valley in the Snowdonia National Park. Featured in an online article by The Sun, this very special Mallwyd cottage is described as 'the ultimate escape' and provides stunning views of the River Dovey from both bedrooms, as well as from a wrap-around decked area outside. It has been lovingly renovated, and recently refurbished, retaining its exposed beams and an impressive inglenook fireplace with a woodburner and an original bread oven, which all help to create a warm, cosy and romantic atmosphere throughout the cottage. As well as having full double glazing, this Mallwyd cottage offers an ideal combination of charming original features and contemporary fixtures and fittings, perfect for a romantic break or family holiday. If you feel like spending an evening out, there is an excellent pub just a 10-minute walk away, The Brigands Inn. This is the perfect location for climbers, walkers, mountain bikers, fishermen and birdwatchers, as this Mallwyd cottage is surrounded by the wonderful facilities of the Snowdonia National Park as well as the magnificent coastline and sandy beaches of the nearby Cardigan Bay and Llyn Peninsula. For something different visit Zip World or one of the other adrenaline adventure sites which the area has to offer. Dolgellau and Machynlleth both offer a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants, while Aberdovey and Barmouth are both very popular seaside resorts. A charming Mallwyd cottage in a truly lovely riverside location, where if you are very lucky you may capture the Salmon leap the waterfall. It is ideal for enjoying this beautiful part of Wales.

Mallwyd is a small Welsh village in the Dovey valley, with a quality pub serving good food. Within easy reach of the village are Dolgellau, Aberdovey, Coed-y-Brenin forest and Cader Idris. An ideal base for a memorable holiday.

!! then there is the walkers bus loads of them you cant sit out to be quite as they walk past the deck every few minutes and to make things worse they stand at the side of the deck to take pictures of the waterfall someone even sat by the river in front of us !!.Cottage suffers from lots of cob webs which wouldn't take long to sort,i know older places get cobwebs but not to the extent of these in the house other parts could do with some tlc which is a shame, final comment the bathroom is down stairs which could mean up and down for a lot of people during the night, but wont be a cottage for us to go back to.

As you walk in the kitchen the door catches the open flap of the fuse box. I tried to shut it but it wouldn`t stay shut. In fact the whole box was very loose and in danger of falling off. The cooker, (which was different to the one in the photograph) had a burner which only gave a limp yellow flame. The duvet covers were of flannelette (again, not the ones in the photograph, which are white) and of a red, pink and an off-white striped pattern, which didn`t give you much confidence of the cleanliness of them, and when we removed the covers and pillow cases at the end of our stay to aid the cleaners, we were horrified to find that the duvets and pillows were covered in large brown stains, and obviously hadn`t been washed for a while. A pity, because Pen y Bont could be a perfect holiday getaway with some TLC, and these simple to fix things let it down badly.
