Snaptrip says

Ddol Helyg Farmhouse is a well-loved property praised for its excellent location, spaciousness, and welcoming host, Barbara. Guests enjoyed the stunning views, the ample amenities, and the Piggery Pottery. While some noted areas for improvement, the overall sentiment is positive, with many considering a return visit.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cleanliness of the property received mixed reviews. Some guests found it to be satisfactory, while others noted it could be improved with a more thorough clean and attention to detail. The presence of cobwebs and a dirty kitchen floor were mentioned, suggesting room for improvement.

The location is highly praised for its centrality to North Wales attractions, with easy access to Conwy and Caernarfon. The proximity to shops, a friendly pub, and nearby attractions like Snowdon and the coast, along with the beautiful views, make it an ideal base for exploring the area.

Comfort levels are generally high, with guests appreciating the spaciousness and the number of en-suite bathrooms. However, some guests mentioned that the furniture could be updated and that the heating was insufficient at times, indicating that while comfortable, there is room for enhancement.

Facilities are well-regarded, especially for large groups, with a well-equipped kitchen and plenty of lounge space. Some guests noted that certain aspects, such as the BBQ and some appliances, could benefit from maintenance or replacement, and Wi-Fi connectivity could be improved.

Guests frequently mentioned the thoughtful touches provided by the host, such as Welsh cakes, tea, coffee, and flowers. These gestures contributed to a welcoming atmosphere, although it should be noted that such gifts are a courtesy and may not be a consistent offering for all stays.

About this property

A superb, detached, stone-built farmhouse boasting exposed beams, a large conservatory and two sitting rooms, making it a wonderful base for large groups. Note: This property can be booked with ref. 2250 to accommodate up to 28 people.

Situated between Llanberis and Caernarfon lies one of the most beautiful areas of North Wales: Llanrug. Although one of the largest villages in Arfon, Llanrug is still relatively small, with only 761 houses, many of which are farm buildings and renovated cottages. There are only a few shops in the village, including a butcher, two pubs, two grocers and a chip shop. Should you require any further amenities, Bangor and Caernarfon are only a short drive away. The village has its own attractions, such as the 11th Century church of St. Mihangel and the Memorial Hall, built in the early 1900s. Llanrug's most famous neighbour, Llanberis, is only a few miles away. Llanberis has been christened ‘the Gateway to Snowdonia' and offers access to Mount Snowdon and the unspoilt wilds of the Snowdonia National Park. Llanberis also has a variety of restaurants, shops and inns, serving weary walkers with local fare.

Barbara was very helpful and friendly and would certainly recommend to anyone looking for a large property with great facilities and fantastic view of the mountains, a short distance from everywhere you might want to go. Great value.

It is centrally located with Bangor, Caernarfon, Conwy and the beach at Dinas Dinlle all easily within 25-30 mins. For the walkers, Llanberis and the start of the Llanberis trail is 10 mins away. Wi-Fi is limited but the freeview tv and telephone signal are good.

Moreover, the rural situation of the property means it is very quiet. There is ample parking. The property is a 10 minute drive from Caernaefon and we found it to be an excellent base from which to explore Snowdonia and north Wales. The owner, Barbara is very friendly and we visited the Piggery Pottery on a rainy day. The pottery was a big hit with the children. One point for improvement would around general wear and tear of the property. The bedding and pillows around the property appear to be well used and dated. A small investment to buy new ones would improve the quality of stay. Moreover, although everything is in working order, the property would likely benefit from a general update and refresh esp. in the kitchen. Overall we had a pleasant experience and the property was good value for money.
