    About this property

A charming 17th Century farmhouse with mature gardens attracting red squirrels and barn owls. A beautiful setting, only two miles from the beach.
Cae Ocyn (Ki Okin) is a 17th century granite built Welsh Farm House, with characteristically old features in the south of Anglesey on the B4421 at Llangaffo, 3½ miles from Gaerwen on the A5 and 5 miles from the A55 Holyhead - Bangor - Chester motorway. Accommodation is for 6 people and children are welcome. It lies at the end of a ¼ mile single track downwards sloping tarmac lane (the last 200 yards after the cattle grid being unmade) amidst grassland sheep fields, surrounded by oak, chestnut and hazel trees and having views across the valley of the river Cefni river. The car park turning circle has ample room for 4 cars. Backed by granite rock the house is in a very quiet and peaceful location and microclimate. On arrival, the smell of sheep or silage may occasionally be evident but, as the cottage is ’no smoking’ and ’no pets’ and solid fuel stove, fireplace and Aga are not in use, there should be no unpleasant odours inside the cottage. It is a perfect location for summer beach holidays and relaxing winter escapes. Wildlife abounds all around the cottage with frequent visitors to the garden being red squirrels, tawny and barn owls and great spotted woodpeckers.
Cae Ocyn lies close to glorious sandy beaches and many interesting family visitor attractions, including Anglesey’s Sea Zoo, Plas Newydd, Beaumaris with its castle, Victorian courthouse and jail, a butterfly farm and there are even opportunities to spot puffins or enjoy a spot of sea fishing. Superb coastal walking, golf and horse riding can all be found close by. The Snowdonia National Park with its numerous outdoor activities and stunning mountain scenery is within easy reach.

"We had a wonderful week at Cae Ocyn. The house was very comfortable with everything we needed. The televison was new with good reception and built in dvd. The garden and surroundings were amazing with plenty of wildlife. Red squirels were outside the kitchen window everyday and for bird lovers Jays were seen every day too. Our grand children enjoyed exploring the garden and woodland and the table tennis was a big hit. We look forward to visiting again in the future."

"We stayed here 14th - 17th August and had a great stay. The cottage is beautiful, the beds were really comfortable. The TV had brilliant signal and the selection of games was fantastic. The shower was powerful and warm. The only thing I will say is at night time the cottage is spooky outside. Oh the games was fabulous, we had some fantastic evenings."

"Having read some mixed reviews prior to our holiday including a couple that were less than complimentary we were a little apprehensive about what we would find on arrival. Well we needn't have worried. We absolutely loved this house! We were a party of 4 - two grandparents and a 17 year old granddaughter and her friend. The house is enormous yet cosy. The bedrooms are very roomy and each bed was equipped with spotless, comfortable bedding. There were any amount of pristine soft white towels. The curtains and blinds throughout were beautiful. The shower was hot and certainly powerful enough for us. The lounge was a joy to settle into in the evenings with comfy sofas and a T.V. that worked better than ours at home! Or you could play the piano on the landing. And how we all loved the games room. The brand new table tennis table and dart board gave us hours of fun. We also loved the grounds, the wildness of which made the house seem even more magical. O.K. the location is remote and the path down is rather bumpy. And in the house a couple of the bedside lamps didn't always light, likewise some of the emergency torches. But for heavens sake its a holiday cottage not a 5 star hotel! We loved it even when it rained and when it didn't we soon found lovely beaches within easy reach. So if you want a large, cosy peaceful retreat this is the place to be. If you are bothered by the odd cobweb, visiting hedgehog, complete silence or wild vegetation - don't bother. But you don't know what you're missing."

"needs to be updated new beds in the twin bedroom. I think the area is lovely but that end bit of drive way to the house needs a little work."

"Very peaceful spot, no traffic, no sirens, just peaceful serenity. If you don’t like the quiet don’t go. The house is large and comfortable."

"Out of us 5 OAP's 2 said "Wow, love it", 2 said "OK we're here now", 1 said "I want to walk straight out".Cae Ocyn is unique, it is full of character with a remote feel. It felt a bit spooky the first night but proved a friendly place. We left a list of small issues that need to be addressed, cleanliness of the property as a whole, not just the items that you are expected to use, was one. We had to resist the urge to get stuck in. The washing machine did not work.I looked forward to returning to the house each night and would certainly go again."

"Lovely cottage, very quiet and relaxing. Clean and tidy when we arrived. No signal to watch tv & phone signal poor, being a little out of the way this was a bit of a problem for us. Otherwise an enjoyable stay & great if you want a quiet and relaxing break."

"wonderful holiday in a beautiful setting"

"Great location, really remote and secluded.Very easy to get to local beaches and walks. Also easy to drive to local shops to pick up any shopping. The table tennis table in the garage was a bonus as well.Only downfall was that the pipes needs bleeding on the radiatiors, meaning they were very noisy and didn’t heat up the house much! Also the electric shower wasn’t particular powerful, so be prepared for a luke warm shower!Overall good location and good value for money."
