However, it is in desperate need of some TLC. The heating and hot water failed at the start of our holiday and was not resolved until the Friday before we left on the Saturday. On reading the maintenance book and feed back online this has been a recurring problem since October last year. The cleaning was not of a good standard with crumbs all over the downstairs floors, dirty and stained sofas in both rooms, grill only working on one side, this has also been reported in the maintenance book but still unresolved. The mattress in the main bedroom is badly stained and no mattress protector.

However, our stay at the property was spoilt by the ground source heat pump and hot water system not working after the first day of our stay. The management company did try to resolve the issue by arranging for an engineer/plumber to attend, but the only engineer in the area who can fix the issue with this type of system could not attend until the day we were leaving the property-which was not good for our stay! I could see from reading previous reviews that this very same issue has occurred previously, so there is obviously an underlying issue with the ground source heat pump system at the property. I contacted Sykes Cottages requesting compensation due to the issues we had to put up with during our stay and I was told that it was down to the owner and that the owner had refused to pay any compensation. I find this attitude by the owner/Sykes Cottages not acceptable. I paid up front for the rental/service of the property and I expect that all should be in good working order in the house for the duration of our stay, as anyone would expect. Paying some form of compensation would be a reasonable resolution to this issue and would bode well for any future customers renting this holiday home.

We loved our stay. Loved having a fire most nights. Thank you for the lovely bottle of prosecco.
