The village of Newcastleton, or Copshaw Holm, sits a few miles from the border that divides Scotland with England in the Liddesdale Valley. Historically a region of strife with the arrival of the Romans in the 1st century, the subsequent Norman invasion and the cross border battles between English and Scots, Liddesdale is at the centre of what was known as the Debatable Land. The village today still echoes its rich history, and is famous for the nearby ruin of Hermitage Castle, an imposing and spectacular sight. The village is also popular today with its range of surrounding outdoor activities, from mountain biking on the 7stanes trails, to fishing, walking and wildlife watching.
From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

" Cottage is well equipped and comfortable. Lovely to sit in Conservatory and watch the birds. Nice walks nearby. "
    Mr Johnston ‐ 1 Apr 2018
" We had an enjoyable week and the cottage was always lovely to come back to after a day out.Great having the conservatory with it's views and light and the cosy living room with it's open fire. The bedrooms are comfortable - the 'en suite' is very small and only really suitable for children or small adults because of it's very low sloping ceiling. All in all a very well equipped property with everything on hand. The area has some places of interest of course but the walks from the cottage is what we enjoyed the most. "
    Mrs Cooke ‐ 1 Mar 2018
" Such a beautiful location we sat in the conservatory and watched the sun come up - the garden was full of birds we even saw a woodpecker, deer and a stoat. Would recommend to anyone who needs to get away from it all "
    Mrs Drane ‐ 1 Mar 2018
" In our opinion the photos do not do the accommodation or gardens justice. Very comfortable accommodation. The conservatory is fantastic. Really makes the most of the fantastic views and bird life. Looking forward to returning one day. "
    Mr Regan
" We were snowed in for 4 days and there's nowhere else I'd rather have been marooned. Cosy and warm with either heating or open fire and the conservatory is the sort of room you won't ever want to leave. The owners really couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating to us, even offering to come and help rescue us from the snow. I can't rate the place highly enough. We will certainly be going back, though perhaps when the snow has melted! "
    Mrs Patterson
" The scenery is amazing, the whole area stunning. "
    Mr Threadgold
" Lived in the conservatory during the day and in the sitting room at night in front of the very efficient open fire. Looking forward to going back as soon as we can. "
Miss Mitchell, Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan
"Loved the cottage. Beautifully decorated and furnished. Good conservatory with fantastic views."
