About this property

Portknockie 6.9 miles, Cullen 4 miles. Originally built in the early nineteenth century as housing for the mill workers who worked at the linen mill on the estate, this quaint little 'C' listed cottage now presents itself as Kitsune Cottage, a delightful holiday home located within the beautiful landscape of Moray in the village of Deskford. The cottage, having been around a while, has retained its rustic features which emphasise it's 'Hygge' appeal. Surrounded by green fields, the property sits in a row of cottages in a small hamlet, 4 miles from the seashore offset from the main road. Kitsune Cottage would therefore be an ideal base for a couple who enjoy the outdoors and are searching a romantic getaway, or the lone traveller looking for some peaceful time away, as it's surrounded by wonderful countryside. After coming in through the front door turn right and move into the open-plan living space, something you will look forward to doing after a day of brisk walks, maybe in winter weather, before throwing some logs on the multi-fuel stove and warming your feet by the fire. The kitchen/living area is open plan giving the cottage it's cosy cabin character, with a stove taking the main focal point. Adjoined is the porch where, once dinner is served, can be enjoyed at the table overlooking the garden, appreciating the very last of the evening light. As the night draws to a close, head for the pleasantly spacious double bedroom where you can be assured of an excellent night's sleep amid the peace and tranquillity which is Kitsune Cottage.

The bathroom next door offers a bath with a shower over, to start your day fully refreshed for the new day ahead.

Heating throughout the property is predominantly provided by the multi-fuel stove/ log burner, thus providing heating to radiators. This can be supplemented by the electrical heaters also made available. A ventilation system too is in place within the cottage. The private garden is a delightful haven, it's freestanding bird bath taking centre stage. The garden has several elements to its character - shrubs, trees and flowers, all creating a tranquil atmosphere where you can be seated and simply relax. On wetter days, take time with a morning coffee to enjoy watching the birds from the porch window, before focussing on your day's plans.

Nearby you will find many attractions to keep you entertained during your trip, why not first head out for a boat trip with the Scottish Marine Safari in Buckie, a unique way to explore the stunning coast including Bow Fiddle Rock while looking out for the amazing Moray Firth dolphins, harbour porpoises, grey and harbour seals among many others. If you don't have the sea legs for this kind of thing then don't worry, you can keep your feet on dry land and still spot these amazing sea creatures by travelling to Spey Bay and visiting the Scottish Dolphin Centre, where dolphins are spotted regularly at the mouth of the River Spey close to the shoreline, afterwards have a look at their interactive exhibitions before sitting down in the cafe for some tea and cake.Cullen Beach and bay sit 4 miles north, where a public house and a small supermarket can be found. A further 6 miles will take you to Buckie where several supermarkets offering a wider range of supplies can be located. Alternatively the friendly town of Keith with its amenities lies 8.7 miles to the south.Kitsune Cottage will provide you with a wonderful chance to see this gorgeous part of Scotland.

Portknockie is a village found on the north-east coast of Scotland in Moray. Home to a harbour, beaches as well as amenities like shops, pubs and cafes, it can provide you with all you need. Head along the coast to find other small villages bursting with character and charm, and try to spot some Moray Firth Dolphins near the shores, or head up to Spey Bay where the Scottish Dolphin Centre lies, with dolphins regularly being spotted at the mouth of the River Spey.
