    About this property

A pretty seaside cottage with welcoming open fire, stunning coastal views and direct access onto the seashore.
S37433 is the quintessential seaside cottage. Situated in a quiet backwater lane in the fishing village of Hilton and with gardens that open directly onto the shoreline, this pretty 19th Century stone cottage is ideal for couples. There is a cosy lounge downstairs with welcoming open fire and a second lounge upstairs with stunning sea views, ideal for sitting and watching the ever changing seascape and the small fishing boats along the shoreline. There are two pretty bedrooms and a modern shower room on the ground floor. The terrace garden is attractively set with tubs and flowering plants. A small gate opens onto the beach and small fishing harbour.

The village of Hilton is one of several pretty ‘seaboard’ villages that straddle this lovely Ross-shire coastline. They all possess beautifully kept seafronts and little harbours, with rocky outcrops interspersed with stunning sandy beaches. This coastline is completely unspoilt and provides an idyllic seaside holiday away from the crowds.

Dolphins and porpoises are regularly seen in the bay and even the occasional basking shark and Beluga whale have been spotted close to shore. Just a short walk from the cottage there is an excellent pub, restaurant, café and a small local store. The area is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise. Cycling, hill walking, golf, fishing, horse riding, sailing, canoeing and surfing are all enjoyed locally. Within ten minutes’ drive lies the oldest Royal Burgh of Scotland. Predominantly built of local mellow sandstone, Tain is a charming historic town and offers an excellent selection of small shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs as well as a wide variety of sporting and recreational facilities, including tennis courts, golf club and bowling club, all of which are available to visitors. This part of the Highlands is easily accessible for exploring the whole of the north.

"A beautiful setting for a lovely cottage which was like home from home. Love the welcome packs, especially the doggy one!!"

"Great holiday the cottage was lovely"
    Anke ‐ 23 Sep 2018
"We felt at home at this lovely little cottage. The location and view are priceless, the kitchen is well-equipped, the bed was a guarantee for peaceful sleep, and the welcome package as well as the message on the chalkboard made us feel very welcome. The living room would benefit from a little love, but the cosy fire and the dolphins and seals we spotted made more than up for it. We loved every day of our stay, and we would definitely recommend this place to everyone xx"

"This was just a great cottage everything you could want from location to comfort seienery to peace and quiet first class holiday hope to go back sometime *****"
    Sue ‐ 6 Aug 2018
"This was simply the best cottage we have ever hired. It was so close to such a wild beach - we fell asleep listening to the waves, curlews, oystercatchers and seagulls. We watched wild otters and photographed wild dolphins. There was everything we could possibly need in a beautiful cottage and it was no holds barred completely dog friendly. 100% would return again with family in the cottage next door #amazing"

"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this most beautiful part of Scotland. The cottage was immaculate, the welcome friendly, and a bottle of wine and shortbread thrown in! Can't wait to return."
    Julie ‐ 6 Jul 2018
"Lovely cottage in beautiful location nice touches like the wine and biscuits left for us thanks to Betty who told us about the best fish shop to go to she was right as well very clean and thoughtfully decorated"
    Raymond ‐ 19 Jun 2018
"Nice clean cottage. Lovely welcome pack. Well equipped. Local restaurant served delicious food but unfortunately not dog friendly so had to drive there and leave dogs in car while we ate as we could not leave them in the property. Would have been nice to have a small garden attached to the cottage to be able to let dogs out. Lovely walks along front though overlooking sea."

"Wonderful cottage, excellently appointed, stunning views and a terrific location. We felt really at home and it was a tremendous base for me to trace the area round about from which my father's family come."
    Maggie ‐ 9 May 2018
"Excellent place to stay - quiet, clean, well-equipped and wonderful view."
    Alastair ‐ 12 Apr 2018
"We instantly fell in love with S37433. The upstairs living room was the clincher, and we were mesmerised looking out at the Moray Firth in all of its lights and moods. Don't forget your camera and binoculars. Those darned dolphins/porpoises proved to be elusive, though. Still, we had a friendly seal who popped up to say hello. S37433 feels/is much bigger than it looks on arrival. We were perfectly comfortable - easy to make yourself at home (not all holiday cottages have that feeling). The complimentary bottle of wine and shortbread added a friendly touch. The local Spar shop is quite well stocked. A short-ish drive into Tain will give you Asda and Tesco. We recommend a visit to Sunflowers café on Tain main street (there's a second Sunflowers place up a side street, too). Hilton village is well situated if you want to explore this area - Inverness, Loch Ness (monster and all), Culloden battlefield, Nairn, Dunrobin Castle, etc. If you are into history, this is Highland Clearances country. Our longest trip was up the east coast route to John o'Groats. Would we book S37433 again? This week we shall be booking our second visit for 2019."
