About this property

This 'postcard pretty' white wooden cottage occupies a quiet and private setting in the grounds of Holly Lodge where the owner resides. Set away from the main house visitors wlll appreciate the lovely views from the cottage and the spacious decked terrace to the front which is an ideal place for a morning coffee and a quiet read. The gardens to the front are very well maintained and there is a quiet seating area below the cottage to be enjoyed. The comfortable sitting/dining room is cosy and smart and the neat well-equipped kitchen ensures that visitors are able to prepare a meal easily. The bedroom, like the sitting room, has far reaching views to the front and a modern en-suite shower room. It is just a pleasant downhill stroll into the smart spa village of Strathpeffer which has good local services and plenty of hotels where a bar meal can be enjoyed along with a dram! For walkers and cyclists the area is rich in pathways and cycle tracks and dog walkers will love the woods close by. Strathpeffer is also a great base for those who want to explore the unspoilt beauty of the Highlands and from here a day trip across the sea to Skye is easily achieved or perhaps focus on the north east coastline with its pretty fishing villages. The capital of the Highlands, Inverness is just a short drive away and here guests can shop till they drop or drive around the edge of Loch Ness, for a bit of monster hunting. So much to do and see and this charming and welcoming cottage is sure to be a real home from home. EPC Rating: Band F

Strathpeffer Spa Pavilion has been restored after a period of disuse and now serves as a venue for a variety of events, including concerts, dances, dramas and exhibitions. The former Victorian railway station, which in times past brought many visitors from near and far, has now been restored to house craft workers and their shops, and is also home to the Highland Museum of Childhood. Visit the restored Pump house, take a walk along a forest track, or enjoy the views from the nearby pictish hill fort at Knockfarrel. Whatever you decide there's plenty on offer for all the family.

The cottage is very comfortable with everything you could possibly need. Location is excellent for exploring the highlands and surrounding countryside. We ate at the local Deli which was very good and had a meal at the Ben Wyvis Hotel which was excellent. We would highly recommend this cottage and would certainly return.

The Cottage was plenty big enough for a couple and the dog and was lovely and warm. The Cottage itself had the added bonus of a utility room with washing machine, ironing board etc as well as a place for muddy boots and doggy paraphernalia. Excellent views of the garden, across the valley to the facing hills and we even sat out on the decking one lunch time and ate out there one evening. The area is very hilly, lots of excellent walks and the village (down the hill) is very pretty. The Deli on the Square make excellent pizzas and the scones at the old railway station cafe are recommended. There is also a Chinese take away in the village. The golf club (up hill) has excellent views and the local people were very sociable and dog friendly, although the food was very basic the welcome made up for it. Fiona was very knowledgeable and always willing to give advice on the area. We found the cottage ideally placed for travelling around the Highlands. We visited John O'Groats, Ullapool, Inverness and Aviemore and Dornoch (definitely worth a visit, fantastic beach and dog friendly). We also managed a cruise on Loch Ness, the week before someone apparently spotted Nessie!

It is a 'wee' gem & has everything you could need, & more, for a home away from home. I would not hesitate to recommend it to family & friends as a fantastic base for exploring Strathpeffer & further afield. I hope to visit again soon.
