Snaptrip says

Amber's Cottage in Portree offers a cosy, homely atmosphere with stunning views and a location that is appreciated for its tranquility and proximity to local attractions. Guests value the pet-friendly policy and the enclosed garden. While some find the cottage to be a perfect retreat, others suggest it could benefit from updates and better maintenance.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The majority of guests found Amber's Cottage to be clean and well-maintained, with several positive remarks about its tidiness upon arrival. However, a few reviews mentioned issues with mould and cleanliness that suggest room for improvement.

The location is highly praised for its exceptional views and peaceful setting, with easy access to local walks and attractions. The proximity to the beach and the enclosed garden for pets are frequently mentioned as highlights.

Guests generally find the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, particularly the main bedroom. However, some guests note that the additional beds are more suitable for children and that the living space may be cramped for four adults.

While the kitchen is noted to be well-stocked and the key collection process is smooth, there are several comments about the need for upgrades, particularly in the bathroom. Issues with water pressure, TV reception, and a lack of internet signal are concerns that have been raised.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owner. Therefore, this category cannot be scored, and guests should not expect additional amenities beyond what is described in the property listing.

This property was absolutely disgusting when we arrived. Black mould in every room, broken mirrors and pictures, cheese under the bed and not to mention the constant flies, dead and alive throughout the property. The beds in the twin bedroom are extremely uncomfortable and There are some serious health and safety issues here, mainly windows not being able to open and a detached string used to tie the blind back in bedroom two. There was nowhere to hang clothes in bedroom two. The dirt down the side of the bed was awful, the shelf in the bathroom was hanging off the wall, the fridge needed cleaned before we could use it, a washing machine is provided but there is no tumble dryer or airing screen to hang up washing to dry. I have photographs of all the issues we came across on our stay and I am happy to share these with Antone before they make a booking. I do not recommend this property to anyone, save your money and enjoy a holiday in a nice clean cottage.

We stayed as a couple but no way would four adults have been able to “ fit in” with only one bathroom /shower and toilet . Water pressure at cottage excellent but shower pressure almost unusably poor. Fold away kitchen table ok for two people but no more. Lounge and kitchen chairs insufficient if there were four people. Main bedroom bed was comfortable but other bedroom beds only suitable for children.Bedding was adequate but basic. Biggest drawback to cottage was total lack of internet signal on O2 or Virgin networks so any planning / research had to be done when out and about when signal accessible. TV in cottage worked intermittently and as no Wi-Fi , not much use.Unfortunately there was also no visitor pack at cottage with information on the area . Location of cottage at Staffin had great view. Door Key safe procedure was trouble free.We booked Ambers Cottage as being one of a very limited number of places available to accommodate dogs.
