The town of Kingussie is situated in the stunning Cairngorm National Park and attracts visitors all year round. The town has a fine variety of hotels and restaurants, and is home to a very fine folk museum, with buildings and artefacts all of which combine to give an insight into Highland life. During the summer months, traditional crafts are demonstrated in the 'village' streets. For the nature lovers there is the Highland Wildlife Park and its wolf territory along with the habitat walks and other Highland wildlife. There are whisky distilleries to visit, one of them, Dalwhinnie, is the highest distillery in Scotland. Aveimore is just 15 miles away and a popular winter destination, but it does have more to offer all year round and is worth a visit at any time of year.

Spotlessly clean. A very well equipped kitchen which was great as we wanted to cook for ourselves. Plenty of interesting books and games. Lovely sitting room with TV set up with I player etc. Good wi fi As described there isn't a usable garden but we expected that .Lovely watching the wildlife in it from the kitchen window though There is no attached parking but we had no problem getting space in the lay-by just opposite. There is road noise during the day as the cottage is on the main street but good double glazing reduced that. We found the mattresses a little uncomfortable and would suggest that could easily be remedied with mattress toppers. Owner and friendly housekeeper responded quickly to any queries All in all a lovely stay and good value for money. Would certainly stay again

We went on an adventure looking for Raitts and to the Barracks straight from the door (and in our trainers, easy walking mostly). I did have to ask for a few things that couldn't be found during the week and help was there quickly, couldn't fault the service. Although it would be handy to be able to get to the whirlie to dry some clothes during our stay especially as storage was limited for clothes, and with 2 kids I had to move some furniture around. We were only looking for 4 days break but since all bookings were beimg charged a full weeks fee we stayed for the week and had a great time. But this will put me off booking through Sykes again.
