About this property

Located in the glorious East Lothian countryside, Papple is a hamlet located 5.5 miles east of the county town of Haddington and 5 miles south of the charming village of East Linton. This countryside setting is perfect for walkers and those looking to get outdoors, and with its ample-sized bedrooms, it is a chance to wind down in luxury and comfort. The front door opens into the open-plan living space, so hang up your coat on the coat-rack and make your way into the beautiful kitchen/diner decorated in traditional homely style with built-in wooden bench seats and a dining table for everyone to gather around. Built into the wall and dividing the spaces is a stylish woodburning stove, which can be operated either from the kitchen or from the lounge, so you can feel the warmth from the fire as you snuggle down in front of your favourite film. Going back to the kitchen, past the modern appliances, there is a door to the ground-floor double bedroom, featuring French doors leading straight onto the outdoor patio, and just around the corner a shower room can be found with basin and WC. Move back through the utility room and upstairs, and find the first bedroom containing zip/link twin beds ensuring a flexible sleeping arrangement during your stay, followed up by the vast master bedroom containing a lavish super-king-size bed where you can drift off in delight. The first floor includes a bathroom containing a bath with shower over, and the property benefits from a patio and garden space outside as well, with enough room for several cars to park off-road. The property has a small enclosed area to the rear of the house, and two patio areas to the front with an outside picnic table for six. Near the house, there is a semi-enclosed lawn surrounded by flower beds, with an informal grassland and small orchard beyond which can be explored along grass paths. Papple is set amongst agricultural country in East Lothian, with a wide variety of activities on offer including golf, horse riding, water sports, cycling and walking. For those interested in golf, there is a brilliant selection of golf courses all around. Just under a 20-minute drive can take you to Lennoxlove House, a stately home with connections to Mary Queen of Scots for some rich history, or over to Foxgloves Adventures where you can test your limits with wake-boarding, a zip-trail, or Segway on an off-road trek through scenic trails for the more adventurous! Under an hours' drive away is the beautiful city of Edinburgh, so take advantage of this property’s location, to have a day trip sightseeing to see the remarkable Edinburgh Castle and afterwards reach the highest point in the Holyrood Park and take in the views from the famous Arthur’s Seat. There are several family friendly beaches in East Lothian which currently hold 'Keep Scotland Beautiful Beach Awards' and have watersports available. Walkers can enjoy great coastal walks including the famous John Muir Way and countryside walks in the adjacent Lammermuir Hills. Cyclists or drivers can follow the Hillfoots Trail or the Saltire Trail which showcase the local villages and history of the region. 5 Papple Cottage’s location can turn a simple break into a myriad of opportunities to enrich your holiday experience, while giving you the peaceful base you need to come back to everyday.
