The garden, complete with a patio perfect for a morning coffee or evening refreshment, mature trees, lawn and flowerbeds is surrounded by walks leading directly into a small woodland. There is a charming BBQ hut, built in the style of an old shepherd's hut, with a wooden floor and curved roof, & enclosed on two sides. The BBQ is situated in the centre of the hut where you can cook and eat al fresco, sitting round a lovely BBQ watching the dark skies and listening to the complete silence. The BBQ hut is for the exclusive use of cottage guests.

Set on an award-winning farm in the beautiful Dumfriesshire countryside, the location is renowned for its abundance of birds and wildlife which can be enjoyed from marked footpaths around the 310 acres of farm and woodland. Slightly further afield are the Eskrigg Nature Reserve where red squirrels, kingfishers and tawny owl are regularly sited, and Caerlaverock Wetland Centre, recently featured on Autumn Watch. The farm itself, which features an adventure playground and opportunities to "meet and greet" the resident animals, is a fantastic place for children to truly experience the Great Outdoors. All made even better with the sandy beaches of the Solway Firth and Mabie Forest Farm within a 30 minute drive, there's plenty to tire them out, promising a relaxing evening for adults!

The area also offers superb opportunities for outdoor activities both along the Solway coast and also inland where there is a great variety of river walks through to the hilltops giving magnificent panoramas to enjoy. There are numerous golf courses with great variety ranging from sea shore courses at Powfoot and Southerness through to Hoddam Castle's pretty riverside course. The choice of other outdoor activities is almost endless and includes fishing, horse riding, water sports and mountain biking all of which are within easy reach.

Damage Deposit for care of property

All holiday-makers booking a holiday are required to pay either a Refundable Damage Deposit, £150 or as noted in the property listing details, or Damage Deposit waiver of £18, whichever is selected is required to be paid with the balance payment of the holiday. Where selected the Damage Deposit will be held by the property manager to be applied against the reasonable costs of repairs, replacement or additional cleaning of furnishings, kitchen equipment, crockery, glass, bedding and towels damaged or soiled other than by normal wear and tear during the holiday. The Damage Deposit, less any reasonable charges, will be returned within 14 days of the departure date. Where any costs exceed the Damage Deposit the holiday-maker will pay such excess as notified to them by the property manager within 14 days of notification. Where the holiday-maker has agreed to pay the Damage Deposit Waiver the Damage Deposit is not payable. This amount is non-refundable. If the cost of any damage or breakages exceeds the applicable Damage Deposit value for the property, then the holiday-maker will be liable for any additional costs. Any such excess will be notified to them by the property manager and due for payment within 14 days of notification.
