With far reaching rural views, sitting within the Royal 4 towns* and some of the counties finest towns within easy touring distance, this property is the perfect bolt hole for walking (Annandale Way), cycling, fishing on the Castle Loch or on the river Annan, (permits available) or just for a relaxing getaway with your other half *The Royal Four Towns are Greenhill, Heck, Hightae and Smallholm, founded by King Robert the Bruce early in the fourteenth century during the War of Independence. Be enticed into this Hightae cottage by its amicable studio accommodation - character wooden beams and refreshingly high ceilings give it a real sense of comfort. Convenient open plan living means that you can cook, sleep, relax in front to the wood burning stove and even enjoy a game of pool without hardly moving a muscle, perfect for a peaceful Scotland break. The cosy king size bed rests to the side of the room. The Stable's interior concludes with a sumptuous shower room, exquisitely finished with a vanity unit and large walk in shower so you can get ready for your day in style. The garden area here at the Stable is perfect for the summertime, sit out on the private patio with a drink and embrace the far reaching countryside views. Lochmaben provides a charming selection of amenities including an 18 hole golf course meandering around Kirk loch, tennis courts and bowling greens overlooking Castle Loch which has an excellent walk around it (3 miles) passing Lochmaben castle (ruin). There is something to do for everyone in the surrounding area; whether it be walking on the 53 mile Annandale Way, cycling on quiet back roads or on world-class mountain biking centres that span the south of Scotland. Other pursuits include sailing, fishing on Castle Loch or the River Annan, golfing on Lochmaben's 18 hole golf course or exploring Dumfries and many other bustling wee towns all within an easy drive. There are several local farmers' markets. Visit Annandale distillery to sample local whisky or Dalton Distillery for our local gin. There is Caerlaverock Castle and Wetland, particularly if you are interested wildlife and migrating birds, or Drumlanrig Castle near Thornhill. The area offers some lovely beaches, gardens and harbour towns e.g. Powfoot, Kippford, Sandyhills and Kirkcudbright. Throughout the year the local area has a range of music and art events. Both Glasgow and Edinburgh are only an hour away by train from Lockerbie or Carlisle 20 minutes, if you fancy a day in the city, For cyclists we are able to provide dry and locked overnight bike storage. Lochmaben is in the centre of Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. With a small choice of amenities, it offers lochs known for their sailing and fishing. Lochmaben is also home to castle ruins, a golf course and the Annandale Way walking path runs through the village. Visit the town of Lockerbie, which offers a wider range of amenities and is also home to a golf course. The market town of Dumfries is seven miles away and is an excellent day out with its architecture, things to do and the River Nith running through it.
