The cottage has its own private enclosed garden and has been modernised to provide luxury accommodation with views over the open countryside towards the Solway Firth and Lake District. The cottage has a spacious open plan kitchen/dining room together with adjoining sitting room including a wood burning stove. The sitting room has a French door to the south facing garden which is a sun trap.

Located just a short walk away from the Wetlands Wildlife Trust Visitors Centre and Tearoom based at the Caerlaverock Nature Reserve. There are many sites of interest locally, including Caerlaverock Castle which is just over a half mile walk from the cottage. Other sites such as Sweetheart Abbey at New Abbey are all within easy driving distance, as is Edinburgh with all its cultural sites including of course the Scottish Parliament and Edinburgh Castle.

The local area provides plentiful opportunities for viewing wildlife both at Caerlaverock and not so very far away at Mabie and within other Forestry Commission Woodlands. The Commission woodlands also have an extensive network of mountain bike trails known as the 7Stanes providing trails for all abilities. The local roads are quiet and make good routes for gentle cycling tours whilst walking is also well catered for throughout the area. Other outdoor pursuits such as golf, fishing and horse riding are available locally and further information can be provided on request.
