This charming traditional cottage is located in the small, peaceful village of Dalton, near Lockerbie.  The cottage has spacious accommodation, is graded 4 star by Visit Scotland and has a secluded sun trap garden to the rear.  The location is excellent for exploring South West Scotland's fascinating history with many Castles and historic sites locally including Hoddom and Caerlaverock Castles.  The latter is managed by Historic Scotland and used for many public events such as battle re-enactments throughout the year.    

The local area offers superb opportunities along the Solway coast.  Whilst inland there is a great variety of river walks through to the hilltops giving magnificent panoramas to enjoy.  Throughout the area there are numerous golf courses, the closest at Hoddam Castle, together with other outdoor activities including fishing, horse riding, water sports and mountain biking all of which are within easy reach.   

One of the summer highlights through the summer is 'Riding of the Marches' festivals with events in Annan, Lockerbie, Moffat, Langholm and Dumfries all of which end with cavalry charges by the participants thorough the respective towns - something that should not be missed.  

Whatever time of year you choose to visit there will be activities to enjoy and sights to marvel at, including the tens of thousands of geese and waterfowl that arrive each winter at Caerlaverock Wildfowl and Wetlands reserve.  

Further afield the cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh are approximately a 1 & 1/4 hours drive away.

"This is a lovely cottage in Dalton which is very spacious and well equipped, everything that you would have in your kitchen at home was here. We were staying with grandparents and toddler and there was plenty of room for us all. The garden backs onto fields and the toddler enjoyed watching the cows. There were nice touches such as fresh flowers and yummy freshly laid eggs provided." Mrs G
