Fantastic places to visit and see within very easy access - by foot and by car. A great Solway coastal area very close by. The two nearest small towns are delightful with great coffee and eating places. Kircudbright parish church was very welcoming (even for the dog) with a wonderful slide show of Ukraine to support their vigil. This year as last some of the many castles and abbeys are fully or partially closed due to masonry issues/repairs. Dundrennan abbey is partially- not fully - open and had a wonderfully knowledgeable and welcoming overseer. We again visited National trust of Scotland Threave gardens - a treat for gardeners It too has a great cafe. Threave castle is closed so we could only see(not use) the small ferry that takes visitors over the river to the island on which the csstle is situated.
