Rosebank Cottage is a traditional Galloway Cottage full of character. After an extensive refurbishment the cottage is finished with a good mix of the old and the new .  Original features have been retained, resurrected, and opened up where possible.  In the living room there is a huge fireplace that would originally have housed a range, now with a wood burning stove. There is also a wood burning stove in the kitchen diner.  Original shutters have been opened up and there are the remains of a flagstone floor in the hallway.  After rewiring the electrics and replacing all the plumbing the eaves have been filled with real wool insulation.

There are views across open fields and the cattle may nose over the fence to see what you are up to in the garden. There are two pergolas created in the garden areas. One beside the house and one in the garden opposite, both have seating areas so you can enjoy eating outside for family meals or breakfast. Sit out after dark and enjoy the stars on a clear night. There are often bats to watch on warmer evenings and owls in the nearby woodland to listen out for. There is a cosy bird hide to sit in and watch the fun activities of the large, local sparrow population and you may well spot a vole or two nip in and out of the dry stone dyke wall.  There are newts in the garden to look out for too. Bring your binoculars to watch the bird world from the bedroom windows.

The wonderful Solway Coast is close by with sandy beaches and rugged cliff tops to explore, while inland is the vast expanse of the Galloway Forest Park so there is much to see and do in the area. The attractive cove at Brighouse Bay is minutes away by car, you can walk there along public footpaths direct from the cottage if you feel like a good stretch. There are many beautiful beaches to choose from most within 30 minutes of Borgue.  The area has wonderful sporting facilities including game, sea and coarse fishing. Kirroughtree, part of the Galloway Forest offers a stage of the 7stanes Mountain Bike trail, with others a little further afield at Dalbeattie, Mabie & Ae Forests. There are numerous opportunities for walking be your preference for beach & cliff top walks or more strenuous hill walking. Golfing is available at Brighouse Bay or there are numerous courses within Dumfries and Galloway all within easy reach. The nearest town, Kirkcudbright caters well for visitors. It becomes a busy little place in the summer months. National Trust run Broughton House and Garden is well worth a visit for the garden alone. A multi million pound Gallery opened up in the summer of 2018. There are many areas of conserved architecture to wander around and welcoming cafes to rest at. Kirkcudbright has a busy working harbour and marina and the boats are a very impressive sight when alongside.  There is a good choice of pubs and restaurants for an evening meal. There is also a hotel in the village of Borgue that does meals. Maybe best to book in advance in the busy seasons because it can be difficult to get a table but the very welcoming hosts will try and fit you in.

There are too many enjoyable leisure activities around Kirkcudbrightshire to list here but some of the biggest draws are;

Forests galore to enjoy and walk through. Walk to the top of Kirkcudbright to Barhill Forest about 10 minutes from the centre. There you will find a bird hide with squirrel feeding stations. The Red Squirrels rarely disappoint and the bets are you will see at least one.

Many beaches to sunbathe on, have picnics, beach comb. Most allow dogs off lead. Most are wonderfully quiet out of season.

Some well loved hills to get to the top of to enjoy breathtaking views.

Feel welcome at the Galloway towns of Castle Douglas, (great independent shops, very good cafes), historic Gatehouse of Fleet, Kirkcudbright has lots on throughout the year for locals and visitors alike including; Jazz Festivals, Parades,Tattoo night, Scottish nights, plant fairs, farmers markets, Art and Craft trails.
