A mid-terrace character cottage in the village of Beattock, near to the town of Moffat in the region of Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland. Furnished to a high standard, this lovely cottage is situated in stunning countryside, with easy access to plenty of walks as well as being close enough for access to major towns for events, making this a great place for a family holiday or a get together with a small group of friends. The cottage is well-presented and comfortable throughout. Downstairs is the main living area with comfy sofas in front of a woodburning stove, ideal for relaxing in front of after a full day out and about, as well as a telescope which can be used to see the night sky. There is a well-equipped kitchen with everything needed to prepare some great home-cooked meals. Take your pick where to eat with a good-sized breakfast bar or dining table and chairs to choose from. Upstairs are two spacious, nicely-furnished king-size double bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room as well as a separate shower room also, to avoid those queues in the morning. To the outside of the cottage is an enclosed gravelled garden, making it a great place for the kids to let off some steam, whilst you relax with something chilled. There are plenty of forest and cycle paths from Beattock up into the hills as well as dog walks around the local fishing pond. Old Stables bar and restaurant is a few minutes’ walk from the cottage with Moffat Manor a few minutes’ walk in the opposite direction with an onsite bar and restaurant as well as an onsite shop. Moffat itself is a short drive away and offers a series of waymarked walking routes to suit all tastes, including the Southern Upland Way and the Annandale Way. Moffat has been named as the first town in Europe to achieve Dark Sky status, therefore don’t forget to take advantage of this by using the telescope provided. Explore the town’s rich heritage at the Moffat Museum, wander around the galleries, theatres and shops or stop at one of the many cafes. For those keen fishermen, why not take a trip to the River Annan for a spot of salmon and trout fishing or try Hammerlands Fishery, near Moffat for some superb flly fishing. There are many events and galas throughout the year including music festivals, the annual Moffat Gala and the famous Moffat Sheep Race which is not to be missed. Further afield take a trip to Edinburgh or Glasgow to see the sights or for a spot of retail therapy. Whatever you decide to do, this cottage is a perfect base to explore this beautiful part of Scotland.

Beattock is a village in Dumfries and Galloway, approximately 0.5 miles south-west of Moffat and 19 miles north of Dumfries. There are plenty of walking opportunities and cycle paths in the village up into the hills. Beattock Summit is located approximately 10 miles to the north of the village. In the village of Beattock there is a small selection of pubs including The Old Stables Inn. Nearby is Auchen Castle nestled in the Moffat hills in the heart of Robert Burns country, which is the perfect place to explore the surrounding Scottish Borders.
