Ideally situated for exploring the great outdoors, there several golf courses nearby, Rose Cottage is half an hour away from the superb Lunan Bay beach or the coastal St Cyrus Nature Reserve and the superb Angus Glens and the magnificent Cairngorms are reachable within an hour for world-class walking and skiing. The village of Edzell is two miles away and has a pleasing collection of shops, cafes and bars.
