About this property

This three-storey, semi-detached former Post Office rests in the heart of Hinderwell, with access to the eastern coastline of Yorkshire and beautiful walking country. Positioned on the main road, with a 10-minute stroll down to Runswick Bay from the door, this charming getaway is ideal for families and friends looking to explore the North York Moors. Set over three floors, it boasts a homely feel throughout, with light, uplifting décor and contemporary furnishings to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The front entrance is approached via a ramp and there is a ground floor double bedroom with en-suite, ideal for those travelling with grandparents. You can rustle up a tasty meal in the kitchen and gather around the dining table to discuss plans for your trip. And later climb the stairs to the cosy sitting room, which offers a U-shaped seating arrangement, Smart TV and adjoining shower room. These upper floors play host to three more bright and airy bedrooms, with the master boasting an en-suite. Head up to the second floor, where you will find a hidden gem; a cosy games room for the kids to hide away for an hour or two, while you prepare the family meal or enjoy some quiet time downstairs. Stroll to the pub for a drink after dinner or if you don't fancy cooking for the evening there is a traditional fish and chip shop close by. A pleasant 10-minute walk will take you along a lane to the golden beach at Runswick Bay, a family favorite for rock pooling. You also have the chocolate-box village of Staithes a few miles away, with its higgledy-piggledy houses and winding streets. Venture out to Whitby for the day, stroll along its historic harbour, take a look in the museum and a variety of shops, and even climb the famous 199 steps to its commanding abbey. During the late summer and autumn season, enjoy a cruise on a boat from the seafront to see whales, dolphins and seals out on choppy seas. You also have Robin Hood's Bay, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and The Cleveland Way walking trail. The Old Post Office is a delightful retreat which you will be longing to return to.

Hinderwell is a small but bustling rural village with shops and pubs close to the picturesque fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay, whilst being just 9 miles from the charming harbour town of Whitby. Hinderwell is ideally located for exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside, ranging from the dramatic cliffs and smugglers’ coves of the coastline, to the deep secluded dales of the North York Moors National Park. Walking, cycling, gliding, riding and fishing are all well catered for in the area, making this the perfect location for a relaxing break.
