About this property

The location is simply amazing; set down a private track on its own elevation, offering complete privacy. As you step into the property, the spacious open-plan living area is sure to capture your attention, complete with vaulted ceiling and large sliding patio doors that offer superb views of the surrounding area. Budding chefs can dust off those cooking books and impress in the kitchen, boasting a gloss white overtone with a range of integrated appliances, while the dining table is the perfect spot to enjoy family mealtimes. If the underfloor heating wasn’t enough, the contemporary woodburner offers an additional level of warmth, accompanied with a Smart TV and plush sofas for a delightful night in. Each bedroom is positioned within its own wing of the property; the master boasts that wow factor with a super-king-size and sliding patio doors for seamless access to the decking, plus a contemporary en-suite shower room for convenience. The second bedroom rests at the other side of the conversion, offering a super-king-size bed with rural countryside vistas, a beautiful sight to wake up to each morning. Alternatively, while away the hours as you rustle up something tasty on the barbecue while soaking up the Welsh sunshine. From the door there are plenty of wonderful walks, including the stunning Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall, a breath-taking location standing at 240 feet high, it's an impressive landmark and Britain’s tallest single drop waterfall. Those keen to get their steps in can explore the famous Offa’s Dyke Path, a 177 miles walking trail which loosely follows the England/Wales border, you can hop on it near Welshpool, or head to Oswestry and while you’re there you can discover the British Ironwork Centre, Old Oswestry Hill Fort, and the Park Hall Countryside Experience. If watersports are your passion, sailing and fishing can be enjoyed at Lakes Vyrnwy and Bala, or hop on a steam train at the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway and marvel at the countryside from a different perspective. With all this, along with Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park in easy reach, a holiday at The Sheep Shed ticks all the boxes.

This lovely community is located in the Tanat Valley, at the foot of the Berwyn Mountains, about 4 miles from the spectacular Pistyll Rhaeadr, one of Wales' Seven Wonders (240 ft high waterfall). Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant was the setting for the popular film The Englishman Who Went Up A Hill But Came Down A Mountain, as well as the more current David Tennant film Nativity 2. Two general stores, a newsagents, a Post Office, a butchers, two pubs, one hotel, one cafe, and a fish and chip restaurant can be found in the village. It is surrounded by beautiful landscape and offers a variety of walking paths, including the Berwyn Ridge Walk and a pathway to the top of the waterfall. The picturesque Lakes Vyrnwy and Bala, Powys Castle and Gardens, ancient Shrewsbury and Chester, and the magnificent Snowdonia National Park are all worth seeing.

Dan and Emily are the perfect hosts and nothing is too much trouble. This was our third visit and we have already book to go back later this year and also next year. This really is a five star accommodation.

Absolutely breathtaking views in a lovely modern and comfortable lodge. Dan and Emily were really friendly and went above and beyond, making our stay even better than we thought it was going to be. I can't recommend The Sheep Shed highly enough!

  • Chris

No expense spared by the owners in making this such a luxurious holiday home. Anyone visiting will find the owners most welcoming and extremely helpful should you need anything. I would rather this was a well kept secret but The Sheep Shed deserves to be experienced by fellow travellers !
