About this property

This modern mews-style terraced property enjoys an idyllic position alongside the estuary of the River Esk, overlooking the upper harbour in Whitby. Situated in a quiet position, this bright and cheerful property provides excellent accommodation for a traditional seaside holiday, in a beautiful part of the country. Tastefully furnished to a high standard, it offers a comfortable sitting room, with large glass doors opening onto a south-facing, waterside patio which commands superb views across the marina; a wonderful spot to sit and relax in the sunshine, watching the activity of the sailing craft and fishing boats. From the sitting room, stairs lead up to the three bedrooms and family bathroom, while the well-equipped, spacious kitchen has a dining area to one end and a small seating area outside the front door, which takes in the morning sun. Rare to find in Whitby, there is the added benefit of private parking for two cars, enabling guests to explore this wonderful atmospheric town on foot or easily head out into the surrounding countryside. A pleasant stroll along the side of the harbour brings you into the hustle and bustle of this popular historic port, with its quaint narrow streets and alleyways, long sandy beaches and cobbled market square. Climb the 199 steps up to the famous Abbey, which provides panoramic views right along the coastline, or take an invigorating walk from here along the Cleveland Way coastal trail. Diners will be spoilt for choice with the abundance of good restaurants, fabulous tea rooms and wonderful fish and chips, whilst many of the local inns serve real ale. Why not go on a fossil hunting trip, or take an evening ghost walk? The surrounding area has plenty to offer, including the North York Moors Steam Railway at Grosmont, the Danby Moors Exhibition Centre and the pretty coastal villages of Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes to explore. With the stunning scenery of the moors to discover, and with wonderful walking and cycling close by, Little Venice provides a superb base, at any time of the year.

Situated at the mouth of the River Esk, Whitby is an ancient fishing port steeped in history. The ruin of St Hilda's Abbey is high on Whitby's East Cliff and looks down on narrow streets and alleyways. From the old town, the parish church of St Mary, also on East Cliff, has 199 steps leading to it and the churchyard was one of the inspirations for Bram Stoker's Dracula. Other attractions in Whitby include the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Victorian Jet Works and The Dracula Experience. There are year-round events at Whitby Pavilion Complex and there is a blue flag beach and spectacular cliffs and bays to explore. Whitby is in a beautiful region and offers visitors a great deal of variety for a memorable holiday any time of year.

This was our third stay and we hope it won’t be our last. With private parking within walking distance of Whitby and a beautiful terrace to sit and watch the river from, it really has everything we could want.

Loved seeing the boats and the steam train puffing along. Thanks for the crab nets..we had fun with the crabs. Tea and milk was good too. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Came home a very happy little family. Thankyou so much.
