About this property

Quietly tucked away in central Whitby is this attractive, modern, mews-style townhouse. With light and airy accommodation, it is ideally situated for family groups wanting to explore this wonderful historic seaside port and the numerous local attractions. Set over three floors, there is a spacious L-shaped open plan living area, with a well-equipped contemporary kitchen, comfortable leather furnishings and a dining area opening onto the enclosed terrace. There are two bedrooms on the first floor and the lovely king-size bedroom, with an en-suite shower room and TV, is on the second floor. With both a family bathroom and a ground floor cloakroom, Curlew Cottage provides excellent amenities for all the family. Outside, the sheltered rear terrace is perfect for relaxing in the sunshine with a morning coffee. Although hidden away, all amenities are on the doorstep, with some excellent restaurants, quaint tea rooms and interesting shops to browse. Wind your way through the quirky narrow streets down to the pretty harbour and then cross the famous swing bridge to the cobbled market place. From here, you can work up an appetite by climbing the 199 steps up to the Abbey and the beautiful St. Mary's Church, with breathtaking views along the coastline. This is part of the Cleveland Way trail, where you can enjoy exhilarating cliff top walks. Children will be delighted with the long sandy beaches, perfect for building sandcastles and going on donkey rides, while the brightly coloured beach huts can be rented on a weekly basis. The surrounding area has something for everyone, whether it's discovering the pretty fishing villages of Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes, a trip on the steam railway, or having a fun-filled day out at Flamingo Land. A splendid base for a varied and memorable holiday. Note: This property adjoins Ref. 933446, together they sleep 12.

Situated at the mouth of the River Esk, Whitby is an ancient fishing port steeped in history. The ruin of St Hilda's Abbey is high on Whitby's East Cliff and looks down on narrow streets and alleyways. From the old town, the parish church of St Mary, also on East Cliff, has 199 steps leading to it and the churchyard was one of the inspirations for Bram Stoker's Dracula.
