About this property

This period townhouse is centrally located, a few minutes walk to the West Cliff and harbour. Set over four floors, and sleeping up to eight guests, it offers elegant, stylish accommodation for families or friends seeking a memorable getaway in picturesque Whitby.

The property retains many original features and is lovingly decorated with elegance and comfort in mind.

On the ground floor is a pleasing, well-lit sitting room with feature fireplace and smart, comfortable seating. The kitchen room with dining area is superb for family entertaining with plenty of space to get everyone around the table. The stone tiled floor, timber worktops and range-style oven create a smart, rustic feel. There’s even a wall-mounted TV for when you feel like a laid-back start to your day over a nice, leisurely coffee – that’s what holidays are all about!

On the first floor is an elegant king-size double bedroom with feature fireplace, a spacious house bathroom with delightful free standing roll top bath, separate shower, WC and basin. There’s also a twin with full size bunks.

The second floor has a twin bedroom.

In the tranquil attic room there is a king-size double with en-suite shower and views over the rooftops towards the moors.

Outside is a small rear terrace with seating.

Guests are spoilt for choice when it comes to award-winning restaurants, tea rooms and quaint shops in Whitby. It is a town which simply oozes history – learn more about Captain Cook at the interesting Memorial Museum or take the famous 199 steps to St Mary’s Church and iconic Abbey for a taste of Whitby’s heritage.

19 miles to the south, Scarborough remains a quintessential and much loved seaside resort, with its two sandy beaches, castle, lovely Peasholm Park and Sea Life Sanctuary - all well worth a visit. There are many pretty fishing villages where fishermen can be seen working such as Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hood’s Bay, along Yorkshire’s wonderful heritage coast. Kids will love fossil hunting and rock pooling too.

The focus of The Flying Scotsman is to provide an elegant holiday home for your stay in this stunning area.

The ancient fishing port of Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire, with its superb coastline and close proximity to the spectacular North York Moors. Whitby is a charming and atmospheric town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches and of course the Abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps.
