Goathland

Goathland is a long meandering village in the North York Moors, off the A169 between Pickering and Whitby. It is surrounded by beautiful scenery and has its own railway station on the North Yorkshire Moors steam railway (nymr) running between Whitby and Pickering. The Goathland station is famous for being the location for Harry Potter's Hogsmead Station.

This picturesque village was the setting for the popular television series Heartbeat, with the wonderful pictures of black faced sheep wandering around the village. So much so, that they have put gates on the bus shelters!

The village itself ages back to Viking times with lots of its curious history still evident. There are old fashioned shops and small tea-rooms which will remind you of days gone by, while the surrounding countryside will simply take your breath away. Goathland is a great base for walkers, cyclists and steam enthusiasts. There are regular bus services through this village.
