Lovely, quiet location with everything we needed. Nice cottage feel with cute patio garden. Even saw deer on the track. We’ll be back!

Perfect for a cosy Christmas which is just what we wanted.

The bed was comfortable. The shower is great and the bath fills up really quickly. Gas fire worked really well, just had to be patient for the pilot light to work but that's because we're not used to gas. Central heating worked well. Great idea for the tray for our muddy boots and hooks for our coats on the back of the door. Plenty of crockery to fill the dishwasher up which was fab. The walk up to the cottage is steep but it was fine for us plus we saw a couple of Roe deer and a Barn owl while walking up to the cottage. The walk into Whitby was great, as soon as you get into Ruswarp village you can walk along the footpath next to the railway track, it's a flat path, and from the house it's a 2 mile walk, you'll need a torch if it's dark... We also caught the train from Ruswarp to Grosmont there's a 2 mile climb out of there onto the moor, and walked through the woods to Little Beck then along the River Esk. Also caught the train to Great Ayton and did a circular walk to the Captain Cooks Memorial and Roseberry Topping, beautiful views. The cottage is ideally situated for us, there's a regular bus the 95 that passes through every hour to Whitby. You can catch the train. There's plenty of taxis in Whitby, which is a great town lots to do and see, plenty of places to eat and drink. And lot's of lovely walks. I must also mention The Bridge Inn in Ruswarp was cosy, good home cooked pub grub, good portion sizes but they also do smaller portions too. All in all we had a fantastic holiday, the hosts were really friendly and helpful too. Thank you
