About this property

This fabulous first floor apartment is set in a converted Victorian property, in the elegant Esplanade area of South Cliff in Scarborough. Perfectly placed for both the beach and the town centre, it would appeal to couples and small families looking for a seaside holiday in this popular coastal town. A communal entrance leads up to the apartment which offers bright and spacious accommodation, retaining original features such as high ceilings and ornate ceiling roses. The sitting room is a delight, with a floor to ceiling bay window throwing in plenty of light and the afternoon sunshine streaming in. A large sliding sash window opens onto a small private balcony, where you can sit and relax with a glass of wine, whilst admiring the beautiful vistas over the sea and the castle. The dining table is set in the bay window to also capture the views whilst enjoying breakfast before heading off for the day. There is a modern, well-equipped kitchen complete with everything you'll need during your stay and which also has access to the balcony. Both bedrooms have quality memory foam mattresses and linens. There are two steps down to the second bedroom. This apartment couldn't be in a more convenient location, with all that Scarborough has to offer right on your doorstep. It is just a stone's throw to the sea front and the cliff lift, or you can stroll through the ornamental Italian Gardens. The vibrant and bustling harbour is just a 10 minute walk, with cafes, shellfish stalls, ice-cream and amusements. The town centre is also just a 10 minute walk away. A must is the superb open air theatre which lies at North Bay and hosts many famous names throughout the year. Culture lovers can indulge in the Stephen Joseph Theatre in the Round, founded by Alan Ayckbourn, with many of his plays premiered there. For country lovers, the North York Moors National Park is only a short drive away, with heather clad moors, cycle trails and numerous public footpaths. Take a trip on the steam train that runs through the stunning scenery from nearby Pickering to Grosmont or explore the small fishing villages, including Robin Hood's Bay, that are scattered along the rugged coastline. With so much to do in this wonderful area, you will want to return again and again to this comfortable and spacious apartment.

The English seaside town of Scarborough has been welcoming holiday makers for many years and still retains many of its original fine buildings. The North Bay has a safe, sandy beach whilst the golden sands of South Bay are broken by a rocky headland on which stands Scarborough Castle. The castle was built in the reign of King Stephen and has had a rich and varied history, making it well worth exploring. Peasholm Park has a lake where all sorts of boats can be hired from rowing boats to dragon headed pedalos, and visitors can while away the time messing about on the water.

All the information given was very clear. The accommodation was spotless and we were very comfortable with close proximity to the sea front and it was nice to be able to park right outside the property. The only thing we missed was a small sharp knife to slice vegetables as the large knives were too big for this task, however it wasn’t a problem as we only cooked a main meal once (we like to eat out a lot on holiday). Overall a fantastic apartment, pity about the weather but we enjoyed our break anyway.

It’s in a wonderful location with views of the sea and the castle from the huge bay windows. We will definitely return, and would not hesitate to recommend Archie’s Anchor.

Didn't imagine you could improve the perfect apartment but the new layout makes it even more stunning.
