About this property

Filey 1.5 miles. Constructed mainly of chalk stone, this pretty terraced cottage dates back to the 17th century and is situated in the small, peaceful village of Muston. It is located on the west side of the A165 coastal road, just 1.5 miles from Filey and close to both Scarborough and Bridlington. Providing an excellent base for a couple or family, this quirky cottage has been traditionally furnished in keeping with its period charm. In the sitting room at this holiday home near Filey are beamed ceilings, wood-panelled walls and many original works of art, along with a warming open fire, whilst to the rear is a spacious, well-equipped kitchen/diner with an island unit and Belfast sink, as well as an antique dresser and writing desk. Also on the ground floor at your North York Moors cottage is a shower room, plus via the winding staircase in the sitting room are two bedrooms, both of which have an en-suite basin and WC. Outside is an attractive gravelled garden, perfect for alfresco dining. A good pub serving food and traditional ales is just a one minute walk from this Filey cottage, and the village of Muston with its famous Scarecrow Festival in the summer is a convenient centre for both the Wolds and North York Moors. The Hull to Scarborough bus stops in the village and then from Scarborough there are buses to York, Pickering and further afield. The historic seaside resort of Filey with its sandy beach, two promenades, brightly coloured beach huts and annual Edwardian Festival can be reached on foot via the Wolds or Grange Farm, and there are a number of places of interest within a twenty minute drive, including Sewerby, Scampston, Burton Agnes Halls, Sledmere House, Eden Camp and Flamborough Head with its high chalk cliffs, whilst closer to this Filey cottage is the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs, and there are many pleasant country walks in the area. This quirky cottage near Filey is an ideal base for exploring the popular Yorkshire coast and further inland to the Vale of Pickering, Yorkshire Wolds and the North York Moors National Park.

The traditional seaside resort of Filey offers shops, narrow paths, ginnels, beach chalets, two promenades, as well as many family-friendly attractions. Close by are Scarborough and Bridlington, and within driving distance is the wonderful North York Moors National Park.

We spent a week in this super clean, cozy comfortable cottage and would love to return soon!

As ever, the cottage was clean, cosy and comfortable and beautifully decorated for Christmas. Nice enclosed garden and inside the cottage is roomy, with 2 sofas in the sitting room, nice large kitchen and dining area, downstairs shower room and both bedrooms large, with comfortable beds and each with sink and toilet. Lovely welcome goodies too. We and our dog, Lucy, had a lovely week and had time at Whitby, Bridlington, Filey, Scarborough and York, which are all close to hand. Pub in village very nice and friendly, and accepts dogs too. Nice to say hello to owner, Linda, too. Thank you and Happy New Year!

This cottage delivered comfort, cosiness and more. The lovely welcome pack was appreciated and the book about the cottage and local amenities was very useful. This cottage is warm cosy and relaxing. The village pub is well worth a visit and the walk to Filey over the Wolds Way blew away the cobwebs! So happy, we had such a smashing time. Thank you Richard and Linda.
