About this property

An attractive mid-terrace Victorian property, tucked away in a quiet residential cul-de-sac, in the popular coastal resort of Filey, North Yorkshire. With a lovely homely feel, this charming cottage offers family-friendly accommodation for enjoying a traditional seaside holiday, in a most delightful town. Downstairs, there is a very comfortable sitting room, with a large bay window and a cosy open fire, set in the original ornate iron fireplace. This room leads into the separate dining room, with painted floorboards and an additional inviting open fire. The galley-style kitchen provides all facilities to prepare tasty family meals, while upstairs are two spacious bedrooms, together with a family bathroom and separate WC. Outside, there is an enclosed back yard where you can enjoy a morning cup of coffee, whilst planning your next day’s activities. A five minute walk brings you into the centre of the quaint historic fishing town of Filey, with characterful shops, tempting tea rooms and independent retailers. Wander down the cobbled slope to the well-manicured promenade, and the tiny landing, to admire the local fishing boats and buy a toffee apple at the small amusement arcade. The magnificent sweeping bay is every child's dream, with golden sands, shallow rock pools and donkey rides along the beach. Why not hire one of the brightly painted beach huts for a memorable day in the sunshine? If you can pull yourself away from this idyllic place, visit the RSPB reserve at Bempton, with its puffins and kittiwakes, or enjoy exhilarating clifftop walks at nearby Flamborough Head. The larger seaside towns of Bridlington and Scarborough are just a few minutes’ drive, with the spectacular moors beyond. A great holiday spot for family fun.

Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set affront the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the north. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels.

Kitchen floor filthy with inground dirt .Microwave usable as the safety grid inside had been removed and a piece of card board in its place, I removed the card as it would start a fire if somebody tried to us it, it was not very clean inside. Dare not use the cooker it looked so old.. Crockery all mis matched and cups stained. Back yard awful.Dining room very old fashioned. One of the single beds had blood stain on it. Dust under the beds and a tennis ball under the sofa..Wardrodes unusable as too narrow and full of personal items. Need a rail near the very small toilet (with no hand wash facility in it) Very dangerous for Mum who is short sighted.Spend some money on the property and get a good cleaner and it could be alovely little property. Filey is a great place

We found Puffin House very comfortable and homely. We did encounter some hygiene issues on arrival, but these were easily rectified. We would happily stay there again.

The property was supposed to have been cleaned before our arrival, hence the check in time, however, it was not clean at all. We wiped everything down & hoovered round. Not a great start! Unable to use the washer due to the filthy condition. It's a real shame because it was in the ideal position, not too far to walk to the beach, shops & restaurants. Also, the outside area could have been lovely if it was tidied & adequate seating & table were provided. Booked as a last minute break so didn't pay the full price & it definitely would not have been worth it. The property was as listed re the rooms & location & we would have given a lot higher score if the property had been clean.
