About this property

A superbly spacious Grade II listed stone barn conversion, adjoining the owner's property in the pretty little village of Aislaby, just three miles from the picturesque historic port of Whitby. If you are looking for a luxurious base, surrounded by stunning scenery, then this beautiful property fits the bill, making it suitable for families and groups of friends alike. The cottage has lots of character and has been converted to a very high standard, with beamed ceilings, exposed stone wall and oak doors. The living, kitchen and dining areas offer Yorkshire stone-flagged floors with underfloor heating making it cosy underfoot. The sitting room has comfortable sofas, set around an inviting woodburning stove, whilst large floor to ceiling windows and a galleried roof with a mezzanine floor above, create a light and spacious environment. The modern kitchen is well equipped, with a ceramic sink and oak worktops. Within the dining room, guests can sit and chat over an evening meal, or relax with a book in a quiet corner. Upstairs are two delightful bedrooms, with quality beds to sink into after a days hiking and a contemporary bathroom with an opulent freestanding bath, beckoning you to enjoy a deep soak. With the flexibility of a zip/link super king-size bed and a ground floor bedroom with an en-suite wet room and wide doors, this property suits all needs. A lot of thought has gone into converting this fabulous barn, with some bespoke features, including a decorative wrought iron balustrade crafted by a local blacksmith and a contemporary multi-pendant light fitting in the sitting room. The whole effect is comfort with class! Outside there is a pretty enclosed patio with furniture and barbecue to take advantage of the warmer weather and the lovely views of the countryside. A couple of minutes stroll will bring you to the friendly, family run village inn, with real ales and excellent food, whilst a little further lies the River Esk, famous for salmon fishing. There are several public footpaths and bike tracks from the village, through the moorland and the spectacular countryside of the North York Moors National Park. There are many attractions in the locality to enjoy, such as a nostalgic trip on the steam train from Grosmont, visiting the Danby Moors Exhibition Centre, or simply take a tour exploring the Esk Valley villages. It's just a few minutes' drive or short bus ride to the popular seaside town of Whitby, with long sandy beaches, narrow cobbled streets and its famous Abbey, reached by the 199 ancient steps. Take a boat trip or the open top tour bus to see the sights. Also you can go on a ghost walk and visit the Captain Cook's Museum if you still have time to spare. With so much to do in this wonderful area, you will return again and again to this immaculate barn conversion for a fabulous holiday at any time of the year.

The village of Aislaby is located in the beautiful rolling countryside of the Esk Valley, and just three miles from Whitby. A small rural village, Aislaby is a thriving community of pretty sandstone cottages clustered around a main street and served by the old church and Forge Inn. By cycling, walking, or driving in the surrounding area, guests can visit Egton's famous church of St Hedda with its painted ceiling orwalk through the beautiful Arncliffe Woods.
