A most pretty white washed semi-detached cottage, in the small village of Staxton, seven miles from the coastal towns of Scarborough and Filey. With a warm and homely feel, it provides a wonderful base for families wanting to enjoy a traditional seaside holiday, with buckets and spades, donkey rides and candy floss, but to stay away from the hustle and bustle of these popular resorts. Retaining charm and character, with beamed ceilings and stripped wooden floors, the cottage is deceptively spacious, with a lovely welcoming sitting room, with a cosy open fire to relax by on cooler evenings. This leads into the large modern kitchen, with the dining area set in front of the French doors which open out onto the rear patio. Upstairs, there are three comfortable bedrooms, one with a quirky raised bed, accessed by a small ladder - bound to be a hit with the youngsters! Outside, the sheltered rear garden is the perfect spot to sit in the sunshine and unwind with a book and a glass of wine at the end of a busy day. With the added benefit of bike storage and off road parking, this is a lovely property to come back to after a day on the beach. A few minutes’ drive brings you into Scarborough, which offers two sweeping sandy bays, joined by a long promenade, with the castle ruins perched high on the cliffs above. Stroll through the colourful ornamental gardens of Peasholm Park, visit the museums, or have a fun filled day at Alpamare Water Park with its enormous wave pool and slides. Culture lovers will be impressed by the renowned Stephen Joseph Theatre in the Round, which features excellent productions, or the large open air theatre which hosts many well-known bands. The smaller seaside town of Filey is equally as inviting, with miles of child-friendly sands, brightly painted beach huts and traditional seaside cafes. The stunning surrounding countryside is well worth exploring, with its heather-clad moors, delightful coastal villages and excellent network of footpaths and trails to follow. A superb base for a varied and interesting holiday.

The small village of Staxton lies near the Wolds Way 7 miles south of Scarborough. A pretty main street winds its way through the village, which offers a quaint butcher’s shop and a village pub.
