About this property

This superb mid-terrace characterful cottage was originally the Post Office in the heart of the pretty village of Rosedale Abbey. Surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the North York Moors, there are wonderful walking opportunities from the doorstep, yet within easy reach of the bustling market towns of Kirkbymoorside, Helmsley and Pickering. The property has been beautifully converted to the highest of standards and boasts a 4 star Gold Award for its attention to detail and wonderful ambiance. With a tasteful Post Office theme running through it, there is a bright and cheerful sitting room, with an electric woodburner-effect stove set in a feature stone fireplace. With two brick pillars dividing this very spacious room, comfortable seating is dotted around, allowing for plenty of privacy and quiet corners to sit and relax. For television lovers, the 48" Smart TV, with facility for Netflix, will be a big hit! The well-equipped modern kitchen has an electric range cooker, ideal for preparing tasty family meals, while the main dining table is set in the sitting room. The bedrooms are mainly on the first floor, two with the added advantage of an en-suite and all with quality bedding and beds, ensuring a good night's sleep. Outside the cottage, there is access down a private path which leads to a sunny patio area, perfect for a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine, whilst the local pubs and shop are just a minute's walk. With an enviable network of public footpaths, the stunning countryside is a walker's paradise, whilst the historic market towns offer excellent restaurants, independent shops, quaint tea rooms and regular market days. Visit the abbeys at Rievaulx and Byland and take a trip on the North York Moors Steam Railway at nearby Pickering. Castle Howard and the historic City of York are well worth a day’s outing and the seaside resorts of Whitby, Filey and Scarborough are all within easy reach. A superb Yorkshire country cottage for a memorable holiday at any time of the year.

Perfectly positioned for touring both the Moors and the Coast, the picturesque village of Rosedale Abbey is situated in the heart of the North York Moors National Park. Located in Rosedale, a beautiful valley of sweeping hillsides and breathtaking views, this lovely little settlement is surrounded by wonderful moorland countryside and offers walks in every direction. The village is home to the remains of a 12th Century Cistercian Priory - a stone pillar, staircase and sundial are all that remain, which gave the town its unusual name. The village is now largely made up of stone-built cottages clustered around the village green. Packed with local amenities such as shops, tearooms, an art gallery, a glass studio and three old country pubs, there is plenty to do without venturing to nearby Hutton-le-Hole, Ryedale and Kirkbymoorside.
