About this property

This attractive, semi-detached, stone-built cottage, adjoining the owners' home and bed and breakfast, is situated in the historic market town of Pickering, the gateway to the North York Moors National Park. This cottage is well placed for families wishing to explore the spectacular surrounding countryside, with easy access to the popular seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough. Offering bright and airy accommodation, the cottage has two tastefully-styled bedrooms, as well as a modern, family bathroom. An open plan living area features a well-equipped kitchen, a dining area where you can sit down to enjoy family meals and discuss the day's adventures, and a comfortable sitting area, where you can cosy up after a day exploring the Yorkshire Moors. Outside are well-kept communal gardens, where you can sit on sunny summer mornings and enjoy a cup of coffee, before embarking on a day of adventures across North Yorkshire. An easy ten-minute walk brings you into the centre of this popular, bustling market town, boasting a wide range of independent shops, tempting tea rooms and friendly pubs and restaurants. Take a magical trip on the North York Moors Steam Railway, which winds its way through beautiful scenery to the small village of Grosmont. History buffs will love to while away pleasant afternoons at the Beck Isle Museum and Pickering Castle, and for theme park lovers, Flamingo Land is a few minutes’ drive from this Pickering cottage. Enjoy a fun-filled day riding the roller coasters and meet the animals in the zoo! On lazy summer afternoons, why not try your hand at trout fishing at the local trout farm? Visit the stately homes of Duncombe Park, Castle Howard and Scampston Hall, and marvel at the abbey ruins of Byland and Rievaulx. With the North Yorkshire Coast merely a half hour drive away, and fantastic walking opportunities over the nearby open moors, this cottage truly makes a fantastic base, all year round.

The beautiful market town of Pickering is located on the North Yorkshire Moors National Park border. According to town legend, it was founded by Peredurus, a king who ruled during 270 BC. Pickering is filled with flowing streams and limestone hills, creating a spectacular and dramatic backdrop. For evenings out, the town has plenty of theatres, leisure centres and live music; an annual Jazz Festival is held during the month of July. Nature lovers will find Pickering especially appealing with its breathtaking landmarks, such as Dalby Forest, which is home to a variety of beautiful trees and animals such as the nightjar bird and roe deer. Another wonderful conservational must-see is the North Yorkshire Moors National Park itself, consisting of miles of stunning and unspoilt countryside. Tourists will love a taste of royalty by visiting Pickering Castle. The castle was built in Motte and Bailey style during the 13th and 14th centuries and later fortified in stone.

The cottage is in a great position in Pickering easy access to all facilities. Great for access to all N and E Yorkshire attractions. The amenities of the cottage have been kept updated over the years. Certainly will use again in the future.

The owners are welcoming and have supplies available to use upon arrival which was a lovely touch. The cottage was clean and had everything you'd need for your stay. I would definitely stay again.
