About this property

A delightful, stone and pantile end-terrace cottage dating back to the early 18th century, situated with views overlooking the steam railway, in the pretty market town of Pickering. Warm and welcoming, Briar cottage is ideal for steam enthusiasts as well as those wishing to explore the admirable scenery of the North York Moors National Park. Three steps will take you inside to the hallway, where you will arrive at a ground floor cloakroom which rests ahead of you. The kitchen holds a contemporary design and provides an ideal set up for preparing meals from morning through to evening. A delightful dining area is tucked into the corner, with bench seating so everyone can gather together and socialise after a busy afternoon of exploring. Briar Cottage retains plenty of character with its beams and boarded doors, and the charming sitting room is no exception boasting a scenic view across the steam railway. You can cosy up in front of the handsome open fire: believed to date back over several hundred years. On the next floor, two double bedrooms are neatly arranged with more views overlooking the railway, which you can admire before you sleep and when you wake up. Both rooms also come complete with en-suites. Outside you can make your way up the steps to the raised gravelled patio and enjoy a refreshing drink and some fresh air in this wonderful location. The village of Pickering with its full range of amenities and traditional shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, serves as the official gateway to the beautiful North York Moors National Park. Walkers will be spoilt for choice by the rolling hills, valleys, rivers and abundant wildlife of the North York Moors, whilst the city of York and the Heritage Coast are just half an hour’s drive away. Make the most of this lovely market town all year round.
