About this property

This outstanding, Grade II listed, end-terraced cottage is in the delightful market town of Middleham.

Set within a stones throw of King Richards castle, which can be seen as you approach the front door, this cottage has been renovated with great style.

Set over two floors, the charm and character of the building is shown through the original features such as exposed beams and stone floors.

On the ground floor you will find a spacious and airy dining room, a characterful, well-equipped kitchen and an extremely cosy sitting room with woodburning stove, ideal for relaxing in front of after a day out enjoying what this wonderful part of the country has to offer!

The master bedroom on the first floor has a real romantic and luxurious feel with its high ceiling, exposed beams and king-size bed. This floor also provides a spacious double room and a charming bathroom.

Middlehams amenities are on the doorstep, with local eateries and a variety of excellent old pubs nearby.

Taking a stroll up the hill to the 12th century castle is a must, where you can pay a small fee to enter and relive the castles illustrious history.

Also adding to Middlehams charm are the many stables in and around the town, and you will occasionally hear the sound of horses galloping past the cottage.

Three miles away is the Forbidden Corner at Leyburn, a 4-acre garden with a labyrinth of tunnels, follies and other surprises.

Just a short drive away is Hawes, where you can visit the Dales Countryside Museum and The Wensleydale Creamery with other nearby attractions including Jervaulx Abbey and Aysgarth Falls.

With the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District just waiting to be discovered further afield, this charming Middleham cottage is perfect for families looking for that well-earned break!

The attractive Wensleydale town of Middleham is renowned for its history and race horses. Much of the history is bound up with its Norman castle, which dates from 1190 and has a castle keep second in size only to the Tower of London. The horses are a great sight as they make their way to the gallops every morning. The pretty market square is partially cobbled and offers a range of shops, pubs and places to eat.

Kitchen was brilliant Everything there you need and more. Bedrooms and Bathroom all nice and fresh. i think it could be a cold place come Winter but has a great stove there . We had a couple of issues with Cleanliness which i spoke to the owner about, so hopefully this is in hand, But all in all a great Base for some time away. Would recommend

The facilities were all that we needed and we only made use of the rooms we required. Things to improve (this is what i would do). 1. Replace/remove chipped crockery 2. Have a deep clean ... we all know how quickly cobwebs appear so get the cleaning team to whiz an extendable duster around. 3. Defrost freezer and turn the temperature level to save your costs. 4. Replace blown light bulbs 5. Think about the long term health of your beautiful cottage. A Sustain/Maintain program to attend to rotting windows, gutters, facilities (I fixed the loo seat for you but had no tools to sort the loose taps), check the roof tiles for security as evidence of leaks. This is not to pick but to give constructive feedback to the owner to ensure this beautiful building is maintained for decades to come. We would rebook and stay again it was so comfy. The people in the village made us really welcome and we are so lucky to have found your gem in the Dale's.

Beds were super comfortable. Steps between rooms were a bit of a trip hazard for me, so needed to be careful, but as it is a very old property not unexpected. Right next to the tea rooms which happened to be closed that week, but it looked nice. Lovely to see the racehorses trotting though the village on the way to the gallops. Some nice walk suggestions supplied by the owners along with a welcome basket. Owners were very helpful, thank you.
