The first is presented as a king-size with a built-in wardrobe and dressing table. It is joined by a double and a single room both with built-in wardrobes. All have a lovely outlook over the garden. The bathroom is equipped with contemporary fixtures and fittings with a bath and shower above, perfect for a soothing soak or refreshing rinse after a day of exploring. If you can tear yourself away from your beautiful surroundings, head over to Middleham on the edges of the park, where you will find the remarkable 12th-century Middleham Castle, housing a fascinating exhibit centre and shop. Next stop is Leyburn, where you will find a large market square which holds a weekly Friday market, offering local goods and fresh produce, there is also a wonderful selection of craft shops, art galleries, the scenic Leyburn Shawl trail and tea rooms. For an unforgettable stay in North Yorkshire, look no further than Coverdale Cottage.

Old Carlton-in-Coverdale is a charming village in the Yorkshire Dales, nestled in a tiny valley bordered by towering fells, and is one of the best kept secrets in the region. In the past, Coverdale was a popular route for packhorses to go between Wharfedale and Skipton. Traditional ancient stone-built cottages, a few farms, guest houses, and the village tavern, The Foresters, make up the settlement. In the valley below, the river Cover flows. Penhill and Roova may be seen on either side of Carlton. With its adventure gardens and eateries, the Forbidden Corner is a terrific place to take the whole family.

The cottage is lovely, warm and cosy, yet spacious, and the perfect holiday home. It was lovely to meet the owners of the property, who live next door. Their care of the house is so evident in all the extra little touches they have considered, to make this such an outstanding property. The house is well equipped, the bed so comfortable, extra duvets should you need them, fluffy blankets to cosy you up in the lounge , not that we ever needed them, the house was always warm with a really efficient heating system. Just so much thought gone into little details, there are some lovely paintings on the walls for you to enjoy. The position in the lovely small Dales village made it a very restful rural retreat and with a really good pub five minutes walk away, what more could you want. We have stayed in many rental cottages over several years, but this is definitely one of the very best. Linda and Pete.

Every comfort is catered for. The weather was extremely cold but the heating and log burner made the house very warm and toasty. Thanks again Dagmar and Martin! p.s. A big shout out for The Foresters Arms - we were made to feel very welcome and the food was delicious!
